The feature race at Eagle Farm this Saturday is the Victory Stakes (1200m), where maligned sprinter Private Harry is favourite.

1. Transatlantic: Transatlantic is first up for Tony Gollan and is a very interesting runner from a Stradbroke perspective. He hasn’t raced since Nov 8 when a game second in the Five Diamonds behind Vivy Air. Likely will spot them a start but launch late and a win wouldn’t shock.
2. Uncommon James: D Day for him as to whether they continue down the G1 path or aim lower. He was solid first up, but for mine, he is jsut below the G1 level.
3. Reserve Bank: All time training performance if he can win first up. Talented yes, but first up in a year…he goes through to the keeper.
4. Private Harry: IMO, Chris Waller wouldn’t run this horse unless he was here to play. Stallion, and they want to protect his record as best as they can, so if they are running, they are here to win. His trials have been solid enough…but I think he’s very much overrated and goes through to the keeper as well.
5. Hidden Wealth: SCR
6. Warnie: Ended last prep on a high and I dare say they’d love to get him to a Stradbroke. He’ll get back but be strong late.
7. Zarastro: SCR
8. Payline: He was there to win the Ascot Handicap but half turned it up IMO and I can’t have him.
9. Pereille: SCR
10. Lady Of Camelot: Think she has to be given serious respect despite the long lay off and the fact she is on the plane to Royal Ascot. Very good mare when right and her trial work has been super. Leading chance.
11. In Flight: In Flight has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it, as seen in the Sapphire three weeks ago, finishing best from just off speed to score. Very genuine mare that should be around the mark against these.
12. Abounding: Good late in the Ascot Handicap and will be strong late here as well…maybe has eyes purely for the Stradbroke/Tatts Tiara.
13. Splash Back: Quality mare but she’s all eyes on the Stradbroke/Tatts Tiara.
