Cranbourne Monday December 22
Heat 16 – Open 1200m (1.16.26)
1200m jumpouts are usually saved for plodders, jumpers, stayers. But, I was taken by Blakmax. He didn’t fire, outclassed, when resuming at Pakenham, but gee he looked to be absolutely jogging in this jumpout, and noteworthy with a jumps rider on board, so he would have carried extra weight and just looked full of running. Keen to see where he runs next.
Pakenham Tuesday December 23
Heat 1 – Open 1000m (1.01.24)
Yes We Are didn’t beat much in this particular jumpout but I did like the way he moved from on speed, being clicked up by Jett Stanley and got better the further the jumpout went. He can find a Provincial race to resume in and resume a winner.
Rosehill Tuesday December 23
Heat 1 – Open 1030m (1.01.15)
Gee I think Shanoni is flying for Chris Waller. Second sharp trial from her this prep and yes, she was well held/beaten, but the last 50m and through the line, she was sharp and strong. She’s in store to win races this prep.
Heat 2 – Class 1/Maiden 1030m (1.01.63)
No idea what happened to Stock Road at Tuncurry last start, where the ambulance beat him home. Whatever it was, he is over it, because his trial here was very good despite running last. He jumped well but was dragged back to last and was never a winning threat but loved the way he ran through the line. If they find a Country maiden, gee he’ll take beating.
Heat 13 – 3YO+ Maiden 900m (53.38)
I think you can follow the first two with confidence, In Limbo and Epic. Both weren’t really asked for the effort from on speed but moved really well and ran sharp time for the morning. Keen to see where they respectively resume.
Flemington Wednesday December 24
Heat 1 – Open 1000m (59.98)
Ikasara has been given a mini freshen up and looks back on track after this jumpout. Led throughout, didn’t beat a great deal, but wasn’t really asked for an effort, moved well and won by a space with something in hand. He can prove hard to beat at the Provincials/Country.
