Coffs Harbour Monday March 9
Heat 1 – Open Trial 808m (49.63)
Jenny Graham is a very astute trainer and I think she has got a cast off here that will win races for her via Kissavos. Found the best part of the track in this trial but he was jogging under Luke Rolls and went on to win the trial without really being extended. Good looking type, nice mover and looks an ideal candidate to win races in that part of the world.
Cranbourne Monday March 9
Heat 1 – Open Trial 800m (46.30)
Said after his first trial and will say it again, I do think King Zephyr is a Group l winner in waiting and looks the perfect type for a race like the Stradbroke Handicap. This trial he was right back and was wide but under riding, closed off very strongly behind Charm Stone. He’s in for a big prep, keen to see how he goes.
Pakenham Tuesday March 10
Heat 5 – Open Trial 800m (47.15)
Very sharp trial win from Actuality. On speed throughout under Zac Spain and once clicked up, she showed nice change up speed and was impressive in the run to the line. Off this piece of work, she’s in for a fruitful prep.
Rosehill Tuesday March 10
Heat 11 – 3YO Open Trial 900m (54.85)
At the time of writing, no acceptances out for Slipper Day, but I would assume Skyhook resumes in the Darby Munro and then onto the Arrowfield. He looks to be flying. He attacked the line with real purpose to win this trial, and ran very fast time relative to the morning. Prepped right up for a first up win, so keen to him resume.
Heat 14 – Class 1/Maiden Trial 900m (56.37)
I reckon Chris Waller could have an absolute rocket here in Mr Miller. Kiwi who did some nice things in trials last year in New Zealand because Ozzie/Johnny and the crew purchased him and he’s now with Waller. First trial for Waller here, he sat off speed, peeled wider and let down like a nice horse under a hold to score. Very keen to see him resume but I think he’s Stakes class.
Scone Wednesday March 11
Heat 14 – Open Trial 1000m (58.69)
You’d love to know what they are doing with Formal Display. He’s flying. First trial was a beauty and he went just as good here. He sat on speed this time and was trucking before being clicked up by Winona and the horse drew clear to win well in good time. He’s got wins in him this prep for sure.
Grafton Sunday March 15
Heat 2 – Open Trial 940m (54.63)
Snow Falcon is a well exposed mare but I thought this was a sneaky good trial from her. Under an absolute hold in behind, she looked full of running and moved very well the last 100m or so. She’ll be hard to beat in benchmark races in the Northern Rivers.
