A select field has been set down for the Towong Cup (1600m) this Saturday in what looks an intriguing contest.

2025 Towong Cup Runner Preview:
1. Eamonn’s Memory: Thought he was a real eye catcher last Saturday at Wangaratta. Got a mile back but closed off with purpose. I do like him up to 1600m…the gate is tricky but I think with a positive steer, he takes beating.
2. Euphemia: The pattern was in her corner at The Valley last time but credit to her, she took advantage and duly saluted. Maps to land box seat and the way she’s racing, she has to be given serious respect.
3. Corbulo: I think he is the best horse in the race, but his two runs back have been horrendous. Just cannot entertain him against these.
4. Copperfield: Attempted to lead throughout at Albury last time and gave a strong kick from the front but just felt the pinch late and was nabbed. Racing well and is one of the key chances.
5. Star Buyer: Bit on the plain side fresh last Saturday at Wangaratta and just can’t entertain him.
6. Kiss The Bride: Recent Non TAB efforts have been plain. Pass.
7. Steve’s Way: Did a really good job fresh at Wodonga before going to The Valley where she was outclassed and against the pattern, was never a factor. Back to this level…the gate is tricky, but she can bounce back big time.
8. Notmeanttobe: Has been freshened up since a very poor run on Jan 24 at Kilmore where he was pretty much too bad to be true. Prior efforts were sound…not sure he wins, but could pinch a first four spot.
9. Daly Heads: Poor in the race that Copperfield contested at Albury. Not here.
10. Written Advice: Tailed off last when racing last Saturday at Wangaratta and the ambulance will beat it home.

Corbulo looks the leader and at Towong, finding the front is gold. Notmeanttobe should slide across from the wide gate and land outside. Copperfield led at Albury but I think may take a sit. I can’t see much front end pressure given most like to sit back and run on.
