In a complete shock, Winx is at prohibitive odds to resume her last campaign with a win when she steps out in the Apollo Stakes (1400m) this Saturday at Randwick.
The mare has trialled really well on a couple of occasions this time in and from all reports has come back as good as ever. If you’re a thrill seeker, she’s at $1.09 to win on the weekend.
Despite the Champion mare Winx dominating the betting a few punters who have too much money have backed Tom Melbourne to beat the champ which has seen his odds shorten from $31 into $23 but have since eased slightly, there has some small bets as well for Bringham Rocks at $151 and Aloisia at $31.
The value will be who runs third, because Happy Clapper likely runs second and is at $1.40 to place. Who runs third? IMO, there are three chances to do that. Tom Melbourne at $2.70, Unforgotten at $2.15 and Egg Tart at $3.60, and I’m leaning Unforgotten just, though the 1400m record of Tommy is very good.
