Punters have deserted star New Zealand mare Melody Belle in today’s Group One Futurity Stakes with three-year-old Super Seth set to start as the clear favourite in the race.
Melody Belle and Super Seth both opened at $2.70 on Wednesday following the release of the final field but the Multiple G1 winning NZ mare has continued to drift throughout betting and is now out to $3.30 following comments from her trainer Jamie Richards suggesting she will need todays run before peaking in the $5m All Star Mile which is her main aim.
Super Seth will now likely jump as favourite with connections opting to take on the older horses today rather than lining-up in the Australian Guineas next weekend where he would have met Alligator Blood and Catalyst.
Kolding is the only other horse in the market and has been solid at $3.40 throughout betting.
