Last start winner Lady McCabe will be looking to realise potential mid week at the Gold Coast, just 2 starts ago taking on the Group 1 Golden Slipper-placed Sunlight after a narrow miss on debut.
The Helen Page trained 2-year-old will get out to 1200 for the first time after a flurry of strong finishes over the shorter distances, most notably last time out with a very promising final 3 furlongs to break her maiden at Ipswich.
It is no secret that the Spirit Of Boom 2-year-olds have been a revelation during this season, with plenty of big names emerging from the sire as Lady McCabe aims to add herself to the list with a big performance here.
The rise in distance all but insures success, her closing splits last time easily among the best in the field when sitting on pace and proving too good in the final stages, in fact accelerating as she found the finishing post.
Proving she has speed to burn in earlier runs, Lady McCabe has come agonisingly close to breaking the 10-second barrier in 200m splits, finding top speeds in excess of 70 kp/h, backed up by a promising trip home last time out to hit the line at almost 65 kp/h.
Lady McCabe has drawn barrier 5 with Daniel Griffin to ride, aided by race experience as she is just 1 of 4 horses in the field to have won a race previously. Providing things go right throughout the run for yet another capable Spirit Of Boom 2-year-old, she may prove very hard to beat and looks poised to go onto bigger and better things.
