The Rockhampton Cup (1600m) highlights racing at the North Queensland track on Saturday, with a strong field assembled.

1. Bettcha The Crown: Racing really well without winning at the moment. But, he maps well and does bring with him some strong form lines so he commands respect.
2. Hype: I think he has eyes on Mackay/Townsville/Cairns, but, I do think he will eat up the mile here after two runs at 1350m to start the prep. Tick over trial was strong, he gets the leading rider, strong late…good each way gamble.
3. Alcyone: Ambulance beats him home.
4. Without Revenge: He would be considered a winning threat, but the way the rider rode Mahbaby in the Newmarket on Friday…it would be brave to back him in to get this guy home.
5. Harbourmaster: Deserving favourite given his Eye Liner effort, being a real eye catcher from the back against the pattern. Hard to beat, especially up to the mile.
6. Logan Street Lion: Ran very well in the lead up but just think there are stronger form lines around him. Pass.
7. Skyforger: Loved the way he dug in to win the lead up, but as I said above, I think there are stronger form lines.
8. Kipling’s Journey: Just found them too sharp fresh in the Eye Liner but was okay. Fitter and up in trip, good racing style, he is a threat at odds.
9. The Catch: Stable is flying but just not up to these I think.
10. Quothquan: Looks hard to beat after his run at Ipswich last time, working home strongly against the pattern, just missing out on the win. He’ll love the bigger track, genuine tempo, he can win this for sure.
11. Sir Grace: Never a factor in the key lead up here but isn’t improving enough to trouble these.
12. Executive Stress: Good record at the track, genuine horse…just don’t think he is up to these.
13. Moenave: Like him up in trip but just lacks the class.
14. Cosmic Beauty: Likely lands on speed but just lacks the class and not sure she can lead throughout.
15. Divine Purpose: Talent is there, but had every chance in the key lead up here. Pass.
16. Pipistrelle: Good racing style but just don’t think she has the quality to lead throughout.

Looks to be good speed here. Pipistrelle will push forward, as will Skyforger and suspect that Kipling’s Journey will spear across from the wide gate. Without Revenge could roll the dice from out wide too but the rider booking says no.
