Fifteen 3yo fillies line up for this Group 3 race all with ATC Oaks, which will be conducted next week, firmly in their sites. It appears to be one of the better betting races of the day with the Joe Pride trained Unimpeachable holding the call at $3.80. Gai Waterhouse has a strong hand with her fillies Royal Descent ($5.00) and Queenstown ($6.50) the next best.

Adrian Knox Stakes Form Guide

1. ROYAL DESCENT – N Rawiller (6)

Redoute’s Choice filly out of Group 2 winning mare Mulan Princess, who appears to have inherited her parent’s ability judging, be her latest efforts in the G2 Surround Stakes and G3 Keith Nolan Classic. She had a good run in the Surround (1400m) and stuck on well for fourth before narrowly missing out on the Keith Nolan when out-bobbed by Cameo. Should get a sweet run in transit and 2000m looks suitably.

Odds: $7.00

2. GOLD EPONA – J Bowman (12)

She is progressing nicely this campaign for Trainer Kris Lees and, after kicking off her preparation six starts ago in December, has recorded two wins and produced her best run to date last start, when third in the G3 Keith Nolan Classic (1600m). Breeding suggest the 2000m wouldn’t be her ideal trip but going on her last start effort, where she closed from eighth on the turn to finish 1.9 lengths from the winner, you’d have to concede her some chance.

Odds: $15.00

3. UNIMPEACHABLE – J Parr (4)

Drew wide and got a long way back in the G3 Keith Nolan (1600m) two starts ago before doing her best work late last start and finishing fourth (beaten 2.2 lengths) behind Cameo. Trainer Joe Pride than entered the Bradbury’s Luck filly in an 1800m event at Randwick where she was allocated 59kgs and ran a nose second. That was her fourth second (as one win) from six starts but get’s her chance to here to break that habit as she meets them all much better at the weights today.

Odds: $3.70

4. HOLD ME TIGHT – J McDonald (11)

Queensland galloper trained by Barry Baldwin who appeared to have her chance at her last two outings but, as a 2/1 and 10/9 on favourite in those events, let punters down by finishing third in both. Would have to improve on these efforts to figure here I would think.

Odds: $12.00

5. CAMPANIA – J Collett (8)

Put two wins back-to-back over the New Year period before a brief let-up of seven weeks. Upon her return she has competed in the G2 Surround Stakes, G3 Keith Nolan and at her most recent start, where she finished ninth (beaten 7.5 lengths) G1 Vinery Stakes and has been well accounted for in each of them. Needs to improve significantly.

Odds: $81.00

6. QUEENSTOWN – T Berry (3)

Stratum filly who settled on the speed before running away from her opposition late last start at Warwick Farm, to record a three length win in a BM 70. That was second win from five starts. She’ll settle handy from her draw and is still on the improve.

Odds: $6.00

7. SAIL – K McEvoy (2)

Darley’s sole representative who commenced her career in late January and has improved with each of her four starts, of which she has won two, the latest of which was a three length seventh in the G3 Keith Nolan Classic (1600m). She has settled at the tail of the field but has made good ground on each occasion and would expect the same here.

Odds: $6.00

8. EXPRESS POWER – J Cassidy (14)

Snitzel filly and stable-mate to Gold Epona who won well a BM 67 at Canterbury in good style last start. That was her third win from seven starts and she’s only missed a place once in seven starts however, this is by far her toughest test thus far and only made harder by drawing wide.

Odds: $15.00

9. WIND BENDER – C Brown (13)

Her dam Dowry, won the S.A. Oaks and being by Redoute’s Choice, there’s no better bred to win this than her. She only has one win from seven starts but that did come over 1900m and was strong effort (Hippopus ran third). This distance suits and she shouldn’t be overlooked.

Odds: $12.00

10. DIVERTIRE – B Avdulla (9)

From Guy Walter’s yard – who is never without a good filly or mare, by Enconsul. She’s had four starts since making her debut in February and has improved with each outing, breaking her maiden status at her latest start where she finished well to record a narrow victory in restricted company over 1800m.

Odds: $17.00

11. COYOTE MISS – P Robl (5)

Commands filly still searching for her maiden victory at this, start number six. She was fair in the G3 Keith Nolan (1600m) before sticking on soundly behind Divertire for a long neck fourth over 1800m at her last start. Drawn well but hard to see her turning the tables on a few from last start.

Odds: $21.00

12. TORIO’S PRIDE – C Williams (1)

Broke her maiden status two starts back, at her fourth race start, with a head win in a Wyong Maiden over 1600m before holding on well for third at Newcastle (1850m) behind Mr Monopolize against older horses. Will enjoy the trip and being back to her own age/sex and capable of a cheeky effort from the inside draw.

Odds: $34.00

13. FOURTRACKSFOURKIDS – N Berry (10)

Danehill Dancer filly whose form probably reads better than her one win from eight starts. She gets back in her runs and tempo is always crucial to her chances so the step up to 2000m should suit. Especially after her luckless sixth (beaten 3.1 lengths) behind Divertire last start over 1850m.

Odds: $34.00

14. REPLY CHURLISH –  SCRATCHED

15. RED LETTERS –      (15)

Won her last three – but at they were at the picnics. No.

Odds: $201.00

OVERVIEW

Steering away from the favourite here and looking for a bit of value with Fourtracks Fourkids.
Finally gets to a distance where she should be able to capitalise on her strong finish and should’ve finished much closer than she did last start.  Royal Descent goes in. She has been good at each of her starts and from barrier six, should be placed to advantage from the jump. Divertire is good eachway value at $15.00 and worth a ticket and including in any multiples.
