One of the feature races at Eagle Farm this Saturday is the Queensland Oaks (2200m), where the field is near capacity.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Queensland Oaks.
2025 Queensland Oaks Runner Preview:
1. Benagil: Keen to butter up with Benagil. I thought she was a good thing in The Roses two weeks ago and despite being beaten seven lengths, I reckon she fights the finish out, goes close at worst, if she had a clear path from the 600m to the line. She’s a class filly and I think getting to Eagle Farm, room to move, she’s the one to beat.
2. Philia: Philia is a beauty for David Vandyke and is a key threat after a win in The Roses where she got front end control and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and was strong to the line in winning. If the 2200m is fine, which I think it is, then she rates highly.
3. Movin Out: Was hard not to miss her finale in the Roses. She was the real eye catcher, albeit she got back to last, bludged out the back and warmed up nicely late. J Mac takes over and off that, 2200m should be fine.
4. Churchill’s Choice: Love this filly, but why do they keep persisting with Koby Jennings? He was battling in country Victoria and they have somehow found him for this horse for this prep. Her efforts have been good, but for mine, she badly needs a rider change.
5. You Wahng: Thought she just battled late in The Roses and not quite sure she is up to these.
6. Jenni’s Meadow: I think she’s way too short. Yes, the eye catcher in The Roses, but she did find clear air out wide and was good late. Now has an inside gate, where the inside has been cast at Eagle Farm, 2200m a query…I’m opposing.
7. Real Class: Thought they rode her upside down in the Rough Habit and she tired late behind Imperialist. I think with a more patient steer, she can be more effective and she had trialled like a rocket prior.
8. Pinito: Pinito comes here with fresh legs for James Cummings, having not raced since taking out the Gold Coast Bracelet where she lapped up the wet track and made a mess of them in dominant fashion. Tick over trial at Warwick Farm was strong and she gives every indication of eating up 2200m.
9. Pleasure Artist: Thought she was plain in the Roses and can’t have her here.
10. Sweltering: Still a maiden but she was very good behind Benagil in the SA Oaks. 2200m should be fine for her…just the gate concerns me.
11. Let’s Fly: Arrogant win two weeks ago at Randwick…but what did she beat? Nothing. More depth here, not for me.
12. Poster Girl: She was okay in the Roses but just think she lacks the class.
13. She’s A Dealer: She was good late in the piece at Randwick behind Let’s Fly. Kiwi filly that will have no issue with 2200m. Just needs to overcome the draw.
14. Amplify: Stuck on really well but had no answers late for Pinito in the Bracelet. Just don’t think she has the quality to measure up.
15. Sun Worshipper: Didn’t do a bad job in the Roses but she’s not up to these.
16. Eclair Encore: Was good late at Ipswich and is better suited on the bigger track. Just think she lacks the class.
17. Shangri La Impact: What is she? Is she a camel or is she left field good. She beat two camels at Goulburn last time but she was strong to the line, she’ll land on speed and 2200m will be no issue. I think she’ll measure up.
18. Ella Hazel: Strong effort to win on the Kenso last time albeit beat nothing. The gate makes things very tricky and just not sold on her beyond 2000m.
19. Misting (First Emergency): Promising filly but not up to these.
20. La Cometa (Second Emergency): Big win over 1800m last time at the Sunny Coast. Think she has talent, but may need easier.
21. Madame Lexis (Third Emergency): Making up the numbers.
22. Elivina (Fourth Emergency): Elivina is one I can entertain for exotics. She ran behind Let’s Fly two weeks back at Randwick. She was good late without threatening, making up good headway late in the piece behind the Team Freedman filly. 2200m should be fine and can settle closer in the run.
23. Lovey Dovey (Fifth Emergency): Nice filly but needs more time.

2025 Queensland Oaks Speed Map
Shangri La Impact should find the lead, and comfortably, from the wide gate, and in turn should give Ella Hazel the drag over. You Wahng should hold a forward spot, while they’ll likely roll the dice from the wide gate, like they did when on speed in takin
