Two weeks ago punters only wanted to back one horse to win Saturday’s $5m All Star Mile at Flemington but as we know that is a long time in racing.
Since the final field and barriers were released on Tuesday punters have deserted race favourite Alizee after she drew barrier 12 although a wide barrier hasn’t stopped them backing Mystic Journey who is now vying for race favouritism.
Alizee opened at $3.00 on Tuesday in final field markets but has drifted at every call and is now out to $4.00 whilst the Tasmanian star Mystic Journey has been well backed from $4.20 into her current price of $4.00.
Alizee and Mystic Journey dominate the market and will fight out favouritism but punters are also warming to campaigned gallopers Happy Clapper and Hartnell with good bets taken on both runners.
Happy Clapper has been the best backed runner in the past 24 hours and has shortened from his opening quote of $5.00 into his current price of $4.50 and could vie for favouritism if the money continues.
Of the roughies in the market there has been each way specking for Moss ‘n’ Dale who has attracted a couple of big bets and Urban Ruler…
Le Romain has also been well backed since gaining a spot in the race with the scratching of Foundry.
