The Northam Cup (1600m) takes centre stage at Northam this Sunday, with an open betting market suggesting there are plenty of winning chances in this year’s feature.

1. Playhouse Patron: Handy stayer that is getting miles in the legs for the Perth Cup.
2. Cool Memory: Thought he was sneaky good in the Hannans at Kalgoorlie and the tick over trial was pretty good. One for exotics.
3. Royal Toronado: He’s the only danger to Aberdeen Flyer. Freshened up but has a touch of quality and maps to stalk the speed, being effective late.
4. Multinational: I think his only hope of winning is if he gets front end control and that there is an up/in bias. He’ll lead and give a sight but I dare say gets the staggers late.
5. Oly’s Choice: Gritty win last Saturday at Ascot and is a horse in form…just no 100% sure he is up to these.
6. Arcadia Park: Cardiac Arrythmia first up so forgive/forget. Tick over trial was good, but has eyes on the Perth Cup.
7. Elite Missile: Think he’s racing well but just think the mile will see him out.
8. Aberdeen Flyer: I think good luck beating him. Great return at Ascot, driving hard from off speed to just miss when second. Maps to do no work in the run, will be effective late, has class/quality…good thing IMO.
9. Don’t Wait For Luck: Sneaky going well but needs it easier.
10. Memory Parade: Better suited in benchmark racing.
