A key race at the Gold Coast this Saturday is the Magic Millions Subzero (2200m), where the market is gravitating towards the The Wave form.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2026 Magic Millions Subzero.
2026 Magic Millions Subzero Runner Preview:
1. Miss Joelene: Ripping mare who won The Wave last Saturday at the Gold Coast, giving them a start and a beating but settling more handy, which proved the difference. The 2200m should be no issue and she commands respect again.
2. Major Beel: The lead is there if he wants it, but I actually think he’s better when chasing, as seen two runs back. In the Christmas Cup he just whacked away after sitting on speed. Good horse but very hit and miss.
3. Encoder: I think Encoder can go back-to-back — he’s flying. Trialled up very well before resuming in the Members Mile where the tempo didn’t suit. He got a peach from J Mac in The Wave and it took Miss Joelene, with fitness and a sharp turn of foot, to beat him. Hard fit now at 2200m and looks a big price.
4. Manzoice: Gear tinkering and J Mac aboard, but I think $31 is unders.
5. You Wahng: Thought she had her chance in The Wave. Did early work, landed on speed and was there to be more dangerous than she was. Pass for mine and looks way unders.
6. Snitzanova: Didn’t do a bad job in The Wave but has a tricky draw and I don’t see her running a strong 2200m.
7. Wymark: Should appreciate the step up to 2200m from 1800m in The Wave. Looked one-paced there but kept whacking away, and with a positive ride he’ll get every chance to run the trip out.
8. Private Legacy: Ridden upside down at Randwick last start but even allowing for that she was poor. Not for me.
9. Wowit’s Willywonka: Flying, but the ambulance may beat him home here.
10. Sun Worshipper: Got the cash winning the Shoot Out, but I think that form is second tier compared to The Wave. Outside chance down in the weights.
11. Sly Boots: Just fair in The Wave and this looks harder again.
12. Wapiti: Veteran racing well but needs it much easier.
13. Tambeloa: Down in the weights and can press forward, but looks a real one-paced type. Pass.
14. Brosnan: Would be close to a good thing at Rosehill over 2400m rather than here. Sneaky good run last start but not up to this class.
15. Social Outcast: Won’t know himself with just 52kg. Last start win over 2000m at Ipswich carrying 60.5kg and finished best from off speed. Lacks class but right down in the weights and one for the exotics.

2026 Magic Millions Subzero Speed Map
Think Major Beel gets control here and comfortably. Wapiti should slide across from out wide. Wymark, You Wahng and even Tambeloa should take up forward spots, but it doesn’t look like they’ll go overly hard.
