The feature race this Saturday at the Gold Coast is the Magic Millions Classic (1200m).

2025 Magic Millions Classic Runner Preview:
1. Quietly Arrogant: Not sure he beat much last Saturday, plus the ride from B Shinn was 12/10. Tricky gate, wil be back near last…he’ll be strong late and if within range, he can threaten for sure.
2. Gallo Nero: I think he is a real hole in the market this guy. IMO, very lucky to win at Randwick two weeks ago. The runner up, Apocalyptic, should have bolted in, but had no luck while Gallo Nero had the A1 run in transit and was too good. Maps ideally but I have big question marks on him.
3. Secret Sort: It wouldn’t be a Magic Millions without a Mishani horse. But he’s not up to these.
4. Luva Flutta: Interesting runner. Hasn’t raced since Nob 16 when making it two wins on the bounce. His tick over trial was good…but just not 100% sold on his form lines.
5. Cool Archie: I reckon he has talent this horse and will be a nice horse for the Winter Carnival I dare say but not for me here.
6. Icarian Dream: Icarian Dream is three weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since taking out the Bruce McLachlan. Yes, she was kissed on the date with the ride/run she got, and a couple of runners flopped, but she did put them away relatively easy, and the stable loves to target this race. Leading contender.
7. O’Ole: Led and was plain behind Gallo Nero in the race mentioned above. I don’t see that as the leading form reference.
8. Vein Girl: Out of trouble on speed in The Debut and that was the difference between winning and losing. Good racing style and will press forward, but I can’t see her running 1200m.
9. La Bella Boom: It’s hard to ignore La Bella Boom and her win in the Pearl on the weekend. Yes, she had the right run in transit, but even allowing for that, gee she was arrogant and the fact she was eased down the final 50-75m, she was sharp. Upside, brings the best last start performance IMO…the one to beat.
10. Invincible Woman: I am stunned this horse is favourite. The debut win at Caulfield Heath…she beat nothing, and the overall time was horrendous. Yes, led throughout and kicked off it to win and win well. But she should be well into double figures.
11. Hi Barbie: Something had to be amiss in the Bruce McLachlan and there was. Cardiac Arrhythmia. One of the most forgiving excuses for a run and the record of a horse bouncing back after that is incredible. A win wouldn’t totally shock.
12. The Playwright: Did a good job on speed in the Bruce McLachlan but others were stronger late and I suspect that will be the case here.
13. Memo: Another that comes through the Gallo Nero race. If I was to entertain one from there, it’s this girl. Wide no cover throughout and the using of energy just told on her late. Maps to do no work and with this stable, respect them in a Grand Final.
14. Formula Rossa: Nice filly but not here.
15. Don’tdoubtthelady: Nice filly and hasn’t done much wrong in three career runs, but she’s not up to this class of race.
16. Forgotten Spirit: Gee I am a fan of Forgotten Spirit. She has done nothing wrong in two career outings. Did more than enough in The Debut before going to the Pearl last Saturday where she made up many lengths and worked home with real purpose when second to La Bella Boom. Home track advantage and she’ll eat up 1200m. She can win.

They will hum here I feel. Secret Sort, O’Ole, The Playwright, Invincible Woman and Hi Barbie will all hunt forward, which should generate a very genuine tempo. Memo will want to hold a spot from the inside gate, while Gallo Nero could get the beaut run in transit.
