PointsBet appears poised to be acquired by Japanese company MIXI, after the betting firm’s board unanimously rejected a revised bid from rival suitor betr.
The board confirmed that should shareholders not back the proposed takeover at an upcoming meeting next Wednesday, MIXI would proceed with an off-market acquisition of the company regardless.
PointsBet, which is listed on the ASX, commands approximately five per cent of the Australian wagering market and also operates in Canada. The company has found itself at the centre of a high-stakes bidding war between fellow Australian-listed operator betr and Japanβs tech and gaming powerhouse MIXI.
