The first of the four Group l races at Randwick this Saturday is the Inglis Sires (1400m), headlined by Golden Slipper winner Fireburn, who is looking to become the first horse since Pierro in 2012 to do the double.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2022 Inglis Sires.

2022 Inglis Sires Speed Map
It looks a race void of early speed. The two I can see sitting near the front are Man In The Mirror and Daumier. There is also a chance for Counttheheadlights to press forward from the wide gate. Shalatin won’t be far away.
2022 Inglis Sires Runner Preview
1. Daumier: He ran a brave race in the Slipper after doing work near the speed. I just query with him a strong 1400m because his last two 1200m runs, he has got the staggers late. With that in mind, I’m risking.
2. Shalatin: Big wraps on him but to date, hasn’t delivered on the track. I would have liked a set of blinkers on him, but I do like Nash on board. He’ll stand over this horse and take no BS. But on form, can’t see him winning.
3. Let’srollthedice: Heavily backed on debut at Bendigo on a bottomless track and bolted up. He then went to the VRC Sires at Flemington when smashed in betting and duly saluted in impressive fashion. He’s ticked the wet track box and the 1400m box, and will be strong late.
4. Counttheheadlights: Counttheheadlights is a promising horse for the Maher/Eustace camp. Just found them a bit sharp in the Blue Diamond Prelude before contesting the big dance and I thought he was outstanding from near last on the turn behind Daumier. He’ll eat up 1400m here and don’t be put off by the trial. Yes, he was sluggish, but he didn’t have Blinkers on.
5. Millane: SCR
6. Man In The Mirror: He looks unders. He’s more a second tier horse, wanting a drop in depth. Not going well enough to trouble this lot IMO.
7. Magic: Is he a contender or pretender? Narrow second on debut in the Silver Slipper before going to the Pago Pago and worked home like a horse wanting more ground, which he gets here. Won’t be shocked if he won, but won’t be backing him.
8. Warby: Has the Maher/Eustace polish and commands respect. Debuted in the Black Opal and worked to the line quite strongly behind Queen Of The Ball. He’ll be strong at the end. Just depends what sort of head start he gives.
9. Wealthy Investor: Blinkers first time but didn’t really fire in the Pago Pago. I’d be quite surprised if he figured in the finish.
10. Showcourt: Showcourt is a very good colt for Chris Waller. He should have won the Todman last time out but had no luck in the straight when seemingly having plenty up the sleeve. That form didn’t quite stack up in the Slipper but he is above average and looked sharp in a recent trial win. My read on him is that he could be a perfect JJ Atkins horse so the fact they run here tells me he’s flying and ready to go.
11. Brosnan: If you like Letsrollthedice, which I do, then you have to respect this colt. He ran a closing fourth behind that horse at Flemington and was a little unlucky. Market gap between the two is far too great IMO so at big odds, could have something small on him.
12. Fireburn: Fireburn…what an amazing Slipper win. She had no right to be in the finish after the nasty check she copped but she picked up, drove hard and on the line dashed clear for a dominant win. How much did that take out of her? Not sure, but she has to be respected.
13. She’s Extreme: Dominant winner of the Magic Night before going to the Slipper where she was part of that mess down the side and she lost all hope. Off prior form, she’s certainly in the mix.
