RANDWICK

RACE ONE

Captivant was specked throughout the week so it wasn’t a total surprise that it finished best in the ACY Securities Victory Vein Plate (1000 metres).

The Peter & Paul Snowden runner went up $10 on Wednesday and was backed into as low as $7 today before jumping as an $8 chance.

She’s All Class ($4.80-$4.40) was the strongest push on the day and went around with 30 percent of the total investment.

Kalashnikov ($3.30-$5.50) was a notable drifter all week and that continued on raceday.

BETS: Captivant $1,000 @ $7.50

BETS: Shes All Class $1,500 x $1,000 e/w @ $4.80/$1.85

RACE TWO

Air Marshal saluted for followers of SKY Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs when finishing right over the top of his rivals in the TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap (1100 metres).

The Mark Schemtzer-trained runner had been as much as $11 when markets opened on Wednesday and today, hovered around the $9.50-$8.50 mark before jumping at the latter.

Under the urgings of Tommy Berry, Air Marshal finished best to land the money for Pick of the Yard followers on SKY Thoroughbred Central.

Crackneck ($7) had plenty of support while Mr Moppett ($4.80) wasn’t far off them at the end and went around with the most money.

BETS: Crackneck $2,000 @ $7, $1,000 @ $7 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,000 @ $6.50

BETS: Mr Moppett $2,500 @ $4.60, $1,000 @ $4.60 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,000 @ $4.40

BETS: Lady Demi $2,500 x $1,000 e/w @ $11/$3.50

RACE THREE

Money all week suggested Purple Sector was the one to beat in The Star Mile (1600 metres).

TAB went up $9.50 earlier in the week and punters were very quick to take the price, backing him into $4.80 favourite on the day. The John Thompson runner held the most money in the race with Looks Like Elvis ($9.50-$6-$6.50) the second best tried.

Of the others, Missybeel ($31-$16) was specked at the big price while Opacity ($5) and Pancho ($9) had their admirers at the price. Laure Me In was a noted drifted from $4.80-$7.50.

BETS: Purple Sector $1,300 @ $4.40

BETS: Pancho $2,000 x $1,000 e/w @ $9/$2.70, $2,000 @ $9

RACE FOUR

Despite the betting drift, Forbidden Love was able to lead throughout in the Reginald Allen Quality (1400 metres).

At the start of the day, $4.20 was being offered about the Richard & Michael Freedman-trained runner after it initially opened as a $3.40 favourite.

Although attracting some money at the better price, the daughter of All Too Hard continued to drift all the way out to $6 at the jump.

Bargain, $14 on Wednesday, was $10-$6.50 today and easily the most notable mover while the early push for Only Mine ($10-$4.80-$6.50) ran out of steam.

Elizabeel ($5) went around with the most money.

BETS: Forbidden Love $2,000 e/w @ $6/$2.20

BETS: Bargain $1,000 @ $7, $2,550 @ $6.50

BETS: Darling Diamond $2,000 @ $13, $3,500 x $1,500 e/w @ $11/$3.30

BETS: Elizabeel $4,000 @ $5

RACE FIVE

Jason Collett was the punters pale in The Kosciuszko (1200 metres).

It’s Me was smashed late in betting and went around as one of the best backed runners across the country today. The biggest bet taken on the Brett Cavanough-trained filly was $48,000 @ $2.10 taken just minutes out from the start of the race.

The unbeaten filly was $2.60 once the final field was declared and although attracting money early, most punters were taking a ‘wait and see’ approach. After being passed fit this morning, TAB customers didn’t hesitate and backed her from $2.30 int0 $1.95.

She went around nearly five times as popular as anything else in the event and commanded well over half the total investment.

BETS: It’s Me $2,000 @ $2.30, $48,000 @ $2.10, $10,000 @ $2.10, $5,000 @ $2.10 TWICE, $4,000 @ $2.10, $4,200 @ $2, $4,000 @ $2 $20,000 @ $1.28 PLACE

BETS: Redouble $1,000 e/w @ $14/$3.40

BETS: Two Big Fari $1,000 @ $16, $1,000 @ $15

BETS: Fender $1,000 @ $7.50 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Man Of Peace $1,000 @ $16 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE SIX

Favourite backers were sent packing in the Fujitsu General Sydney Stakes (1200 metres) after Deprive went down as a heavily supported commodity.

Deprive was one of the best tried runners all afternoon, held more than half the money on this race, and was responsible for four times more money than Standout ($4.40) which was the clear second pick.

Trumbull, on the other hand, had been specked earlier in the week when $13 was posted by TAB. After bottoming out at $6, the Kim Waugh runner went back out to $12 but was responsible for some solid eachway support.

BETS: Trumbull $1,000 @ $12

BETS: Standout $3,000 @ $4.40

BETS: Deprive $2,700 @ $2.90, $2,000 @ $2.80 MULTIPLE TIMES, $10,725 @ $2.70, $7,200 @ $2.70, $1,000 @ $2.70 MULTIPLE TIMES, $25,600 @ $1.35 PLACE

BETS: Prime Candidate $5,000 x $2,000 e/w @ $16/$3.70, $1,000 e/w @ $15/$3.60

RACE SEVEN – TAB EVEREST

The best backed runner did the job – and damage – in the running of the TAB Everest (1200 metres).

Classique Legend was a big go over the past 48 hours but had been one of the more popular runners right throughout the week.

The Les Bridge-trained runner was $4.50 after the draw on Tuesday and got out to as much as $5, however, sheer weight of support throughout the afternoon saw him come into $4.20 and dominant favourite.

Libertini was the late go after being double figures and started $6.50 while Nature Strip just continued to drift throughout the afternoon and went $4.80 all the way to $7. Bivouac ($11-$9.50-$10) had strong support all week and Gytrash went around as one of the more popular runners at the $6 quote.

Classique Legend’s win was a horror result for TAB. The striking grey went around with nearly a quarter of the market riding on his back!

Gytrash was second most popular in front of Nature Strip with Libertini next best.

The two biggest bets placed on the winner were a pair of $10,000 investments (see below).

BETS: Classique Legend $5,000 @ $5, $4,00 @ $4.80, $2,500 @ $4.80, $2,000 e/w @ $4.80/$1.95, $10,000 @ $4.60, $2,000 @ $4.60, $2,500 @ $4.40, $2,000 @ $4.40, $10,000 @ $4.20, $4,000 @ $4.20

BETS: Nature Strip $5,000 @ $6.50, $4,000 @ $6.50, $3,000 @ $6.50, $2,000 @ $6.50 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,000 @ $6 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,500 @ $5.50, $3,500 e/w @ $5/$2, $1,000 @ $5, $1,000 @ $4.60 TWICE

BETS: Haut Brion Her $2,000 e/w @ $31/$8.50

BETS: Bivouac $1,500 @ $10, $1,000 @ $10, $2,000 @ $9.50, $9,600 @ $.12 PLACE

BETS: Gytrash $20,000 e/w @ $6/$2.25, $9,500 @ $6, $6,000 x $2,000 e/w @ $6/$2.25, $5,000 @ $6, $3,000 @ $6, $2,000 @ $6 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Behemoth $1,000 @ $10 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Libertini $7,800 @ $8, $1,000 @ $7.50, $1,000 @ $7 MULTIPLE TIMES, $10,000 @ $3 PLACE

BETS: Trekking $1,000 @ $16, $1,000 @ $15

RACE EIGHT

Think It Over only attracted mild interest in the Yulong Australia Craven Plate (2000 metres).

Kerry Parker’s rep went $17-$15 on the day as the majority of the money went to Star Of The Seas ($2.15-$2.25), which was nearly three times as popular as anything else.

Vanna Girl ($5-$6) was soft late despite holding good money throughout the afternoon while Quintessa ($11-$8.50) was backed for the second straight week, however, they left it in the bag.

BETS: Star Of The Seas $6,000 @ $2.25, $3,000 @ $2.25, $2,000 @ $2.25, $3,000 @ $2.15

BETS: Scarlet Dream $1,000 @ $15

BETS: Quintessa $4,500 x $1,500 e/w @ $8.50/$2.40

RACE NINE

Despite a big drift in the market, Fun Fact was able to lead throughout in the Bentley St Leger Stakes (2600 metres).

The Bjorn Baker gelding went from $9-$13 as most of the money came for Paths Of Glory ($4.20-$3.40), which went around with a quarter of the total investment.

Shes Ideel, stablemate to the winner, went $4.20-$3.70 and was best tried outside of Paths Of Glory. Attorney ($4.40-$6) continued to drift throughout the day.

BETS: Shes Ideel $5,000 @ $3.70, $4,050 @ $3.70

BETS: Paths Of Glory $2,000 @ $3.50, $2,000 @ $3.40, $5,000 @ $3.30

RACE TEN

Bombasay did the right thing by the Lizzie Jelfs disciples by leading throughout in the Bowermans Commercial Furniture Handicap (1400 metres).

The Damien Lane runner hit $19 at one stage of the afternoon before coming back into $15 late, no doubt, thanks in some part to SKY Racing’s Jelfs tipping it as her ‘Pick Of The Yard’.

Dancing Gidget ($5.50-$6) and Mirra Vision ($5.50) went around as the popular types along with Best Stone ($6-$4.80).

CAULFIELD

RACE ONE

Power Scheme got things off to a great start for punters by taking out the ZircoDATA Handicap (1700 metres).

The Dabernig & Hayes-trained runner was easily the most popular horse in the race, holding a whopping 60 percent of the total investment.

All hard Wood ($51) and Just Like Mum ($13) added some spice to the exotics.

Power Scheme $2,000 @ $2.70

RACE TWO

Incredulous Dream ($11-$9.50-$11) carried some decent bets but the real story of the QMS Media Plate was the massive support for the favourite.

Rainbiel ($2.25-$2) was smashed throughout the afternoon and went around as one of the most popular horses across the country.

Holding over 61 percent of the total investment on the race, Rainbiel was also a fancy with multi players.

Incredulous Dream held less than 10 percent of the money that Rainbiel did. Of the others, Yosemite ($7) had admirers as did Scream Dream ($9) while Yes Baby Yes ($6-$8.50) was the most popular outside the favourite.

BETS: Incredulous Dream $1,000 @ $11

BETS: Yosemite $1,000 @ $6.50 TWICE

BETS: Rainbiel $10,000 @ $2, $6,000 @ $2, $4,000 @ $2, $2,200 @ $2

RACE THREE

The money suggested Endanger would be hardest to beat in the Polytrack Gothic Stakes (1400 metres) and that was certainly the case.

Out of the powerful James Cummings yard, Endanger ($4.20-$3.60) was the best backed runner in the race and was more than twice as popular as any other horse.

Just A Tribute ($9-$8) was a good push after being $18 earlier in the week while Osamu ($3.50-$4.60) did his best to defy the betting drift.

BETS: Endanger $1,500 @ $3.70, $1,000 @ $3.70 MULTIPLE TIMES, $5,000 @ $3.60, $2,000 e/w @ $3.60/$1.55

BETS: Osamu $3,000 @ $4.60, $1,000 @ $4.60 TWICE

BETS: Saltpeter $1,000 @ $10

RACE FOUR

Albarado was too tough for his rivals in the Caulfield Classic (2000 metres).

The son of Savabeel was pretty solid at the $5 for most of the day and bottomed out at $4.60 before jumping a very popular $5 chance.

Only Let’s Karaka Deel ($4.40) held more money than the winner. In fact, the runner-up was twice as popular as Albarado.

Of the others, Redwood Shadow ($6.50) was close up in fourth and ran up to the support for it while Cetshwayo ($6) had admirers and Hit The Shot (9-$10) attracted some serious bets late.

The Pres ($11-$8), stablemate to the winner, was the subject of strong eachway interest.

BETS: Albarado $2,000 @ $5, $1,000 @ $5

BETS: Lets Karaka Deal $2,000 @ $4.40 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,500 @ $4.20

BETS: Hit The Shot $5,620 @ $11, $4,000 x $1,000 e/w @ $10/$3

RACE FIVE

The big move for Silhouette failed to come off in the Lexus Ethereal Stakes (2000 metres).

TAB went up $10 about her chances on Wednesday and since then it was just a constant stream of money for the Godolphin runner. Such was the weight of support that she was backed into $3.90 favourite!

Chica Fuerta ($5-$6) had decent money riding on her but was overshadowed in the popularity stakes by Silhouette, Succeed Indeed, Starelle and Pensato.

BETS: Chica Fuerte $4,000 @ $6

BETS: Silhouette $3,000 x $1,000 e/w @ $4.20/$1.75, $2,000 @ $4, $1,720 @ $4, $1,000 @ $4 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,100 @ $3.90

RACE SIX

Punters deemed it a race in two and that is how the Carlton Draught Alinghi Stakes (1100 metres) unfolded.

Fituese ($2.50-$2.30) went around a clear popular pick with TAB customers while California Zimbol ($3.70) was the only one seriously tried to knock off the fav. Between the pair, they were responsible for nearly 70 percent of the market!

In the end, it was the second elect which narrowly held on from Fituese with Prophet’s Thumb ($14) winding up third.

BETS: California Zimbol $6,000 @ $3.70, $4,250 @ $3.70

BETS: Fituese $9,000 @ $2.40

BETS: Pinyin $1,000 @ $7 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE SEVEN

Alfa Oro was very costly in the McCafe Caulfield Sprint (1000 metres).

The Matt Laurie runner was hammered throughout the day and went $2.15 into as low as $1.90 before starting $1.95.

Alfa Oro held nearly 60 percent of the money and was five times as popular as anything else in the race.

It wasn’t as though there wasn’t specking for other runners though. The winner, Graff, was specked all day and firmed from $12-$8 to be the best mover outside the favourite.

BETS: Graff $1,000 @ $9 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Alfa Oro $5,000 @ $2.25, $2,547 @ $2.25, $1,500 @ $2.20, $6,000 @ $2.15, $41,500 @ $2, $9,000 @ $1.95, $3,000 @ $1.95, $6,000 @ $1.90

RACE EIGHT

Wild Planet was pretty solid for most of the day although did get out late in the running of the Moonga Stakes (1400 metres).

Ridden perfectly by Hugh Bowman, Wild Planet ($4.80-$5.50) had its fair share of support throughout the afternoon and was one of the best tried runners outside the easing favourite in Windstorm ($2.40-$3).

The Grant & Alana Williams runner was responsible for more than three times the amount of money than anything else in the race.

Fifty Stars ($14-$8.50-$12), which had been $26 earlier in the week, was a decent speck throughout the day as was The Inevitable ($10-$7). Best Of Days ($5.50-$5) opened $11 on Wednesday.

BETS: Wild Planet $2,500 @ $5.50, $1,000 @ $5.50 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,200 @ $5, $1,500 @ $4.60

BETS: Windstorm $3,000 x $15,000 e/w @ $2.80/$1.40, $9,900 @ $3.10

RACE NINE

It was a horror result for TAB with Verry Elleegant proving too tough for her rivals in the Stella Artois Caulfield Cup (2400 metres).

Chris Waller’s top mare went around as the most popular runner in the race and accounted for 25 percent of the market.

One TAB customer was praising her toughness and Mark Zahra’s ride after collecting $150,000 thanks to a $30k outlay.

The late money arrived for Anthony Van Dyck ($7.50-$6.50) which was only narrowly off the mark.

Master Of Wine ($7) was popular all day while Dalasan ($14), Toffee Tongue ($18) and Buckhurst ($12) all attracted strong support throughout the day.

BETS: Verry Elleegant $30,000 @ $5, $2,500 e/w @ $5/$2, $7,000 @ $5, $5,000 @ $5, $4,000 @ $5, $2,000 @ $5

BETS: Dalasan $1,000 e/w @ $15/$3.60, $1,000 @ $14

BETS: Chapada $2,000 e/w @ $21/$6, $1,000 @ $19

BETS: Master Of Wine $5,000 @ $8, $2,000 @ $8, $3,000 @ $7.50, $1,000 @ $7.50 MULTIPLE TIMES, $5,000 @ $7

BETS: Anthony Van Dyck $4,000 @ $7.50, $1,000 @ $7.50 MULTIPLE TIMES, $3,000 @ $7, $1,000 @ $7 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Dashing Willoughby $2,000 e/w @ $26/$7.25

BETS: Warning $1,000 e/w @ $19/$5.50

BETS: Finche $1,000 @ $10, $1,000 @ $9.50, $1,000 @ $9 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Toffee Tongue $4,000 x $1,500 e/w @ $17/$5, $1,000 e/w @ $17/$5 TWICE

RACE TEN

Chris Waller finished things off with a double after Madam Rouge defied the betting drift to land the Schweppes Tristarc Stakes (1400 metres).

Madam Rouge had been $6 at the start of the day but went all the way out to $10 before jumping a $9.50 chance.

Ben Melham stuck to the inside lanes to overhaul She Shao Fly ($7) and Felicia ($3.60), the latter attracting decent backing throughout the day.

Perfect Jewel ($3.90-$3.20) was costly once again as it went around as the most popular runner in front of Pretty Brazen ($4.40-$5.50-$5).

BETS: Perfect Jewel $5,000 @ $3.20 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Felicia $13,500 @ $3.60, $2,000 e/w @ $3.60 TWICE
