Despite his unbeaten run coming to an end last time out, Royal Symphony has been the key firmer in early betting with Sportsbet.com.au to take out the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) this Saturday.
The Tony McEvoy trained three year old was well backed in the Prelude but the tempo/bias was against him and he just got too far back when finishing fourth to Perast. Punters are forgiving him and they are buttering up, he has been $4.40 into $4.20.
His main rival appears to be Kementari but he has been a fraction easy, opening $5 and sitting at $6 before a little rally late has seen him come in half a point to $5.50. The other key runner is Catchy and she is solid at $4.60.
The move at odds has been for The Mission, who was talked up by connections this week as a better chance than stablemate Perast ($10-$11). The Mission opened $81 and with a few each way bets rolling in, is now at $51.
