The son of Sebring has impressed all concerned after his slashing second in the Caulfield Stakes (2000m) a fortnight back when beaten by the favourite, Fawkner ($4.20-$4.50), and given that the Caulfield Stakes has provided 15 of the past 30 Cox Plate winners, it’s no surprise to see the chestnut firm from $9 into $7.50.
Sacred Falls was second favourite pre barrier draw, but he has eased out to $6.50, drifting a point, as has the Coolmore galloper for Aidan O’Brien, Adelaide ($7-$8).
The solid money in the race has come down the bottom with the three-year-olds, with Almalad ($41-$26), Sweynesse ($17-$15) and Wandjina ($34-$26) all met with support.
Royal Descent has remained rock solid at her quote of $9, while the only real notable drifter out of the big guns is Silent Achiever, who has been $11 out to $13.
