The time honoured Caulfield Cup (2400m) for 2025 will be run and won this Saturday, where Half Yours dominates betting.

2025 Caulfield Cup Runner Preview:
1. Vauban: B Shinn on, luckless in The Metropolitan…but, is that form any good? Bunched finish, winner pulled the whole way…he can win, but for me, he can win without me.
2. Presage Nocturne: Presage Nocturne is a class stayer from France that comes here off the back of a close up third in the Kergolay, which probably doesn’t have the weight of importance it once did, but it is still a quality race. Reckon he may have eyes on the first Tuesday in November vs this race, but he’ll be strong late and has class.
3. Middle Earth: He’s sneaky going well even though his Grand Final is on the first Tuesday in November. Turnbull run was sneaky good and he’ll love getting to 2400m.
4. Meydaan: Meydaan knows what it takes re a good horse coming down under given they did bring Without A Fight a few years ago before he was sent to Team Freedman. Meydaan does seem chips in for this race. He was quite good last start at Kempton Park in the September Stakes, finding the line strongly from off speed when third. He’ll run a beauty.
5. Absurde: Melbourne Cup is his race he’ll target and I suspect this is a tune up.
6. Land Legend: Was ready to charge into him after the Underwood but gee he was plain in the Turnbull and off that run, he goes through to the keeper.
7. Zardozi: She is a star mare when right and ran so well in the Cups last year. Hasn’t quite set the world on fire this prep but Blinkers go on to sharpen her up and she has been set for the race. Her best is good enough to win.
8. Adelaide River: Led and stuck on very well in defeat in the Turnbull but just not sure she is up to these.
9. Banker’s Choice: Every chance last start in the Ansett Classic. Needs it easier.
10. Deakin: He is ticking along beautifully for the first Tuesday in November. Lovely run in the Turnbull, will run well here and will be cherry ripe for Flemington.
11. Golden Snap: Golden Snap is the way I am going. She is a high class mare from Japan who excels at 2400m+ and will eat up the trip. She last raced on Sep 7 over 2600m at Sapporo when a game second in a strong Handicap. Has runs on the board over there and you always have to respect the Japanese when they come over in what looks a very weak Caulfield Cup.
12. Revelare: Two weeks break since that absolute gutbuster in the Bart Cummings…pass for me.
13. River Of Stars: Yulong have purchased a few recent camels from overseas. She is one of them.
14. Birdman: He was an eye catcher in The Metropolitan after getting a mile out of his ground, and forced quite wide. He’s right down in the weights, has eyes on this race all prep…I think he’s in the mix despite that race being a suspect form reference.
15. Half Yours: This game is about opinions and my opinion is that he has got none. Well and truly blessed by the gate/ride/run in the Naturalism before going to the Turnbull where he bludged and worked home well. Can see why he is fancied, he’ll get the good run. I just worry he’s been up a long time and this is going to be a test.
16. Royal Supremacy: Did everything wrong yet still finished best to win The Metropolitan. Is he a star? Or are the rest camels. Could be a mixture of both. But I am not going to pen him.
17. Valiant King: Surprised many with his Bart Cummings win and he’ll surprise again if he wins this. Can’t have him.
18. Plymouth: Solid in the Herbert Power but needs it much easier.
