All eyes will be on Randwick this Saturday as the Queen of the Turf, Winx, makes her much anticipated return to the track in the G1 Chipping Norton Stakes.
At the shortest price she has ever been in her remarkable career at $1.08, she looks a certainty to notch her 23rd consecutive win. We caught up with CEO of Palmerbet, Grant Palmer to get his thoughts on the race.
Is there money for any runner other than Winx?
Frankly, no – punters won’t hear of the mighty mare being beat, despite tackling the mile fresh for the first time in her racing career.
Are there any chinks in Winx’s armour?
If there were any niggling concerns about her interrupted preparation, those were certainly nullified following her recent 1200m trial between races on Apollo Stakes day.
Looks to have come back as good as ever, and this is arguably the weakest field she has tackled in some time as well. Will go out there and win, as she likes.
How do you think punters should play the race?
Victoria Derby winner, Prized Icon looks to be absolutely flying this preparation. He probably already wanted further than the 1400m second-up in the Apollo Stakes, and gets that here today.
From a soft draw, he should be the one to fill second spot and is a must for quinellas and exactas.
Stampede will more than likely lead them up in this one, and can fill third spot for your trifectas.
