2026 Blue Diamond Stakes Runner Preview:
1. Unit Five: Bless him winning at the Gold Coast. But I think he was blessed by the ride/run and no Warwoven. Jumped out last week and to my eye, Milsons Point went better. If he wins, too good, but I am against him.
2. Alibaba: Can easily make a case to say he wins the Inglis Millennium but got too far back. If within range here, he could be dangerous.
3. Closer To Free: Did everything right in the Prelude and was too good. He did seem quite forward in condition there, so not sure if there is upside and confident Guest House will turn the tables.
4. Big Sky: SCR
5. Guest House: The more I look at the lead ups, the more I warm to Guest House. I thought he was massive in the Prelude, sitting wide no cover, was very keen and did plenty wrong but loved the way he kept finding the line in defeat. If he does everything right, he is a clear top seed as far as I’m concerned. The gamble is, will he do everything right? If yes, he wins.
6. Eternal Warrior: Lovely return in the Prelude. Will need luck but is capable but reckon a big track and 1400m will be more to his liking.
7. Milsons Point: The forgotten horse could be Milsons Point. He dodged the Prelude after his second in the Preview, working home strongly from off speed but just missed in a blanket finish. Loved his jumpout last week, he’ll be strong at the end of 1200m, he is a knockout hope.
8. Eurocanto: Plain in the Prelude, can’t entertain him.
9. Zambales: Visually, the Talindert looked enormous. The clock said otherwise. I’m against him.
10. Invincible Son: Solid behind Big Sky but not up to these.
11. Ghana’s Akan: I think she’s the knockout. Loved the way she kept chasing in the Inglis Millennium and seems to be getting better with racing. E Brown rides, she maps ideally, will be strong late, clearly appeals.
12. Streisand: She did everything right in the Prelude and once she landed on speed, it was race over. Should press forward again and run an honest race, but I have a few ahead of her.
13. Torture: SCR
14. Lady Moscato: She looks a speedy squib.
15. I Am Aria: Every chance in the prelude and was just fair. Not up to these.
16. Chayan: Loved the debut run behind Streisand…but not sure she is capable.
17. Stretan Ruler (First Emergency): SCR
18. Almost An Angel (Second Emergency): Didn’t mind her finale in the Prelude but think she needs it much easier.
19. Tough Romance (Third Emergency): Thought she was a pretty strong debut winner at Pakenham but this looks a bridge too far.
20. Jacaranda (Fourth Emergency): Loved the debut win but was just fair in Sydney. Maybe in something easier.
