Black Caviar has been backed in from $1.85 to $1.75 within minutes of the market opening for Saturday’s Patinack Farm Classic with one Sportingbet Australia punter placing $100,000 on the Peter Moody trained mare.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters had decided the best sprinting mare in the country would be too good for Hay List.
“The punters swooped as soon as the odds went up,†said Sullivan.
“The $1.85 lasted about three minutes with bets including one of $100,000.
“The punters think Black Caviar is across the line but we’re still keen to take her on as Hay List is very good and the likes of Star Witness, Ortensia and Melito are all capable of springing a surprise.â€
Hay List has drifted from $2.75 to $2.90 while Star Witness remains a firm third favourite at $9.00.
