Wagga
$100 Win Jungle Book R4 @ $5 (Sportsbet)
Wagga Overview:
I think Jungle Book is going really well for the Trevor Sutherland stable and the $5 on offer will do me. Made him the best of the day. A few of these come through a similar race at the track/distance last week won by Dictation and for mine Jungle Book was the unlucky runner and could make a case he should have won. Just got held up for a few strides when wanting to build momentum and by the time he did, it was all over but still managed to run fourth, beaten under a length. McDougall takes over and he’ll shove this horse into clear air if need be and I’m keen on him.
Ballarat
$5 Win /$20 Place Lever Du Soleil R3 @ $26/$7 (TAB)
$45 Win Jimenez R4 @ $3.6 (TAB)
$30 Win Amerock R8 @ $3.8 (Sportsbet)
Ballarat Overview:
A few unknowns in the third, so I think a speck is worthy for Lever Du Soleil, who was wide no cover on speed when debuting at Bendigo and I thought her run wasn’t too bad behind Meuse, who won at Caulfield to frank that form. Hoping the inside is fine, she’ll do no work in the run and had trialled well leading in. Think she’s silly odds. Jimenez returns as a gelding for Mick Kent and it’ll be really interesting to see how he goes. Showed good ability in his two runs to date, both at the Valley, the latest being an eye catcher in the McKenzie behind Doncaster winner Brutal. Hard to get a real guide on him off the jumpouts, but on race day form, he’s better than these. Amerock is flying for Mitch Freedman and should take some beating here. Impressive winner at this track/distance last time when charging from off the pace and probably hit the front a tad early, but clung on. Had a 1000m jumpout at Avoca soon after and looked very good there with eyes towards a Terang Cup start, which he didn’t get. Looks the clear horse to beat for mine.
Coffs Harbour
$25 Win/$75 Place Eye Was R6 @ $14/$4 (BetEasy)
Coffs Harbour Overview:
Galway has the form and upside to win the sixth, but even money is short enough. The value in the race is definitely Eye Was for Brett Bellamy. I reckon he has this mare going nicely and can run a bold race. Excellent here two back behind Heaven’s High before going to Port Macquarie where she had to chase a fair way out due to a strong tempo but still closed off well. I think she does no work from the inside gate, wet track should be fine for her and recently at this track, when it’s been wet, the inside hasn’t been too bad. $14/$4, each way, she’ll do me.
