Gosford Overview:
Most fascinating runner on the card is clearly Vendome in the first. Returns as a gelding for Team Hawkes after two career preps, with one start in each, but both races have been quite strong form references. The trial was okay without jumping up and down but the winner of the trial was Kolding, who won first up and was good in defeat last Wednesday. $4.20/thereabouts is the sort of price where he could easily firm to $3/shorter and win, or drift to $5+ and look in need of the run. The fav, while good on debut at Warwick Farm, is very short for mine. Temple Run was scratched from the maiden in the first to tackle the Class One, so a bit of confidence perhaps from the stable? Ran over 1000m at Wyong first up where he didn’t appear entirely happy on the tight track but balanced up and charged late to just miss. Time stacked up well relative to the day, should get the run of the race and has race fitness on his side. The three horses in the parlay look hard to beat in their respective races. Molten Rock debuted over 1500m at Newcastle and led all bar the last few strides. Improves off that for mine, should lead and prove hard to run down. Regal Stage debuts for the WaterBott team off a couple of trials, and I think the grounding is there to run well on debut. Mighty Marmalade is flying for Kim Waugh and staying at 1100m probably beat her last time. Up to 1200m third up looks ideal for this mare.
