Ballina
$30 Win Coolwedge R1 @ $2.9 (TAB)
$50 Maglev R2 @ $2.05 (BetEasy)
$10 E/W Delayed Response R3 @ $12/$3.6 (BetEasy)
Ballina Overview:
Think it’ll be a soft 2/2 wins here or a 0/2 disaster. They’re both a bit on notice but clearly their best form would see them be winning. Coolwedge is a Toby Edmonds trained filly who hasn’t raced since Christmas Eve at Beaudesert. On face value, as a $1.95 fav, she was terrible, but she did cop pressure in front and was a sitting shot. Don’t think they’ll go as hard here and Lloyd takes over. Made Maglev the best of the day. Nothing flash about the price, he’s a 12 start maiden, but he should be putting these away. He’s been really good in three runs this prep, but has just spotted them too big of a start on the turn. He can, hopefully, sit much closer in the run from the good draw, Fradd on and the depth does look rather thin. D-Day for him but confident he can get the job done. I’ve included Delayed Response just because of the price factor. Why she’s double figures I don’t know. Started a heavily backed odds on pop on debut at Kempsey but if you were on, your money was done after two strides given she missed the kick. Did a great job under the circumstances. If she jumps clean, she can land on speed and produced what she showed in the trial.
Cranbourne
$40 Win Ordell R3 @ $2.8 (Bet365)
$35 Win Rock Dove R5 @ $3 (Bet365)
$25 Win Popova R7 @ $5 (Bet365)
Cranbourne Overview:
Note that 365 was the only bookie with odds up at the time of writing. Pretty keen on these three going close to winning. Ordell has been far from disgraced at her past two runs, both in town and both races appearing to have really good depth to them, the latest at Sandown when a strong second. She gets her chance to get the maiden out of the way and going back to town. Rock Dove is going so well for James Cummings at the moment, getting beaten by a progressive type in Made Me Shiver last start at Geelong. Hoping that Regan goes forward to sit on speed and hopefully get the drag up via Go Ferrando. Popova looks a midweek metro horse in the making and her first up win here was the win of the night, overcoming traffic trouble and a very moderate tempo to put them away. Confident she can measure up, win and progress to town.
