The Robert Smerdon trained five-year-old is $5.00 favourite for the $200,000 Cup. In a wide open race Tuscan Fire and Vilanova (both $8.00) are also in contention with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.
“It’s a fantastic field and a race of many chances. Spinderbella is no nasty stepsister, she’s a class mare, well drawn and coming off a strong win at Moonee Valley. She should get a lovely run and is definitely the one to beat,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
Early money has come for the Darren Weir trained At First Sight ($9.00). Weir, the leading Victorian trainer, will also saddle outsiders Hurdy Gurdy Man ($51) and Mobaco ($41).
Sportsbet are pledging to refund punters bets on the Ballarat Cup if their horse finishes 2nd.
