Country Cup racing in Victoria continues this Sunday with the Bairnsdale Cup (1600m).

Ambassadorial likes to roll on speed and despite being first up, I think he is the leader. Claidheamh Mor is first up too, better suited over further, but can press forward. Delightful Journey led throughout at Sale last time so he’ll settle handy.
2025 Bairnsdale Cup Runner Preview:
1. Claidheamh Mor: He’s not here to play surely. First up in 11 months and I dare say has eyes on the Warrnambool Cup. Just watch him go around for mine.
2. Verdad: Verdad…if you had faith, you were rewarded last start at Flemington. He got the beaut run in transit and was trucking before being clicked up, found and was strong to the line in winning. He has a good record at the track, kind map, off a win…he’s hard to beat.
3. Windstorm: Why is he still racing? He’s just not the horse he once was. Pass.
4. Le Ferrari: His last few runs have been very plain and for mine, isn’t going well enough to threaten.
5. Rhinoceros: Was 2000m back to 1400m in the Echuca Cup last time and kept finding the line in defeat in a good effort. Better set up here, he’s a first four contender.
6. Reset The Jazz: First up but interesting he resumes at his pet distance, so is he here to play? The set up, on paper, says he is. Just needs to overcome the draw.
7. Le Zebra: If he brings his best, he wins. Forget his run last time over 2000m at Flemington when off speed and held up at times. Back to the mile, perfect map, he’ll be strong late, keen.
8. Titan Of Choice: Didn’t mind the way he closed off last Saturday at Geelong. He will be spotting them a start but he should strong at the end and is a must for exotics.
9. Blistering: Blinkers are back on but he’s not going well enough to measure up.
10. Typhoon Harmony: On speed at Morphettville last time but just felt the pinch late. Class rise here, I can’t entertain him.
11. Ambassadorial: Very interesting runner. Formerly with GaiBott, he’s now with Alex Rae and his trial work has been quite good. He’ll press forward and run a cheeky race.

13. Delightful Journey: Good tough win at Sale last time but this is different gravy.
