The feature race at Morphettville this Monday is the Adelaide Cup (3200m), where the race looks wide open on paper.

2026 Adelaide Cup Runner Preview:
1. Berkeley Square: History says the weight is going to stop him, but he is flying and is the clear class runner, by some distance. He commands respect.
2. Newfoundland: Slow recovery behind Berkeley Square and a tick over jumpout was quite good. Off his Warwick Farm win, he can take this out.
3. Eventually: Her 2400m+ record reads very well, albeit in easier races than this. Big win in the Lord Reims, but she’s paid the price re weight. I want to be against her.
4. Komachi: He was plain in the Lord Reims and for mine, he won’t run 3200m.
5. Crimson Vine: Thought she was there to win the Lord Reims but just couldn’t quite get there and that does tell me that 3200m is a slight query.
6. Highland Bling: Highland Bling has an awful draw to overcome but hard to knock the way he’s returned. He ran second in the Lord Reims, sitting off speed and loomed to win, hailed as the winner, but was nabbed on the peg by Eventually. If he can overcome the gate, he’ll take beating.
7. Kirkliston Blu: Solid effort in defeat in the Lord Reims but he’s not up to these.
8. Dictionary: Dictionary is a great each way speck in the Cup for me. He ran over 2500m at Flemington just over three weeks ago when off speed and although he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Berkeley Square. He’s racing as if 3200m will be fine, gets a good gate to do no work…he seems a big price.
9. Hasta La War: Hasta La War is a sneaky knockout hope. He ran down the track behind Eventually in the Lord Reims but his run was sneaky good, getting back to near last and while he was never threatening, he did make up ground and was a definite pass mark. He is a must include in multiples.
10. Hurry Curry: The J Melham tex being applied here? Because my goodness it was just a win at Sandown and now has the steep rise in class/depth and now steps up to 3200m. She is severe unders.
11. Samuel Langhorne: Race shape was against in the Lord Reims and was pretty good late without threatening. Trip is no issue…just think his racing style works against him.
12. Urban Outlook: Was keen on him in the Hurry Curry race but he got back and was never a threat. Can’t entertain him.
13. Amerian Wolf: Another from the Hurry Curry race. Was okay late making up ground but I have others ahead of him.
14. Sentimental Flame: Not up to these.
15. Alainge: Needs it easier.
16. Zibulon: Pretty good return behind Hurry Curry but surely the class factor seals his fate.
17. Sabre Athena: Looks outclassed.
18. Chance Taken: Not up to these.
