It was all one way traffic in the George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday, with star four year old Anamoe dominating proceedings and chalking up another Group l win en route to the Cox Plate.

Read on for the 2022 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes Post Race Horse Ratings.

2022 George Main Stakes Replay

2022 George Main Stakes Post Race Horse Ratings

1: Anamoe: Got outside Hinged on speed comfortably, trucked under J Mac before being clicked up and he went through his gears like the gun he is. Dominant and he’s #1 seed for the Cox Plate.

Rating: 9/10

2: Icebath: She got into a nice spot one off the fence and trucked before peeling wider and she let down strongly to run second in an excellent effort. I was one who was critical of her being scratched from the Tibbie at Newcastle but she gets another Group l placing on the CV.

Rating: 8/10

3: Hinged: Led, got control and just like first up, she was left flat footed when the sprint went on, but she stayed on and was very good in defeat to finish third. She’s right on track for whatever her targets are.

Rating: 8/10

4: Montefilia: Lobbed 1/1 and was going quite easily. Like Hinged, just lacked the change up speed to go with Anamoe but she stayed on and given she was first up, it was a belter of a return from a mare who has eyes on the Cups.

Rating: 8/10

5: Fangirl: Did no work on the fence and on the turn she looked like she woulkd threaten Anamoe, but when Bowman asked for the effort, she just whacked away. I think that run will clean out the cobwebs for the Epsom.

Rating: 6/10

6: Duais: In a similar boat to several others here. No change up speed when she needed it but worked to the line quite well. As well as the Memsie? I am saying no, but from a futures perspective, she’s still right on track to dominate the Turnbull third up.

Rating: 6/10

7: Profondo: Jury has to be well and truly out on him now. He had every chance behind the speed and was there to threaten but he really just plodded late. I will say he needs a firm deck, clearly, but with him being an entire, surely retirement is being discussed.

Rating: 2/10

8: Maximal: He has bigger fish to fry and ran about as well as expected really, especially given he is a horse who is clearly much better on top of the ground.

Rating: 5/10

9: Converge: Snagged back to last and stayed there. Plain effort, much like the return and his campaign is in awful trouble because it’s only going to get harder.

Rating: 0/10
