The Caulfield Cup Carnival might be centred around the Caulfield Cup, but it has become much bigger than a single race. Each year, Caulfield delivers one of the best events on the Australian sporting calendar, complete with amazing horse races, fashion, dining, and entertainment. The 2019 Caulfield Cup is looking bigger and better than ever, with three fantastic days of racing and enough entertainment to keep everyone happy.
Caulfield Guineas Day
This is the first big day of racing in the Caulfield Cup Carnival, this year taking place on Saturday, 12th of October, 2019. A number of races are run on Caulfield Guineas Day, including the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, Group 1 Toorak Handicap, and Group 1 Yalumba Stakes. The Toorak Handicap is run over a distance of 1600 metres for three year old horses and over. The Yalumba Stakes is run over 2000 metres for three year olds and over.
The Caulfield Guineas itself can often be a great indicator for the WS Cox Plate, and is generally a good lead up race for a range of other events over a similar distance. Caulfield Guineas Day is a great event for the entire family, and a fantastic way to kick-start the 2019 Caulfield Cup Carnival.
Blue Sapphire Stakes Day
Blue Sapphire Stakes Day is a mid-week day of racing that takes place after Caulfield Guineas Day and before Caulfield Cup Day, this year on Wednesday, 16th of October, 2019. The major attraction of the day is the Blue Sapphire Stakes, a Group 3 race that is run over a distance of 1200 metres. With $350,000 in prize money up for grabs in this race, the Blue Sapphire Stakes normally manages to assemble a top quality field.
Caulfield Cup Day
The 2019 Caulfield Cup is being run on Saturday, 19th of October. This day is one of the biggest racing events on the Australian calendar, with a race card full of 10 events and a multitude of entertainment, fashion, and dining.
