The first foal from legendary mare Winx, who created worldwide headlines this time two years ago, will never make a racetrack appearance.
The Kepitis family’s Woppitt Bloodstock, which paid $10 million for the filly by Pierro and named her Quinceanera, announced the news via social media on Wednesday morning.
A video showing the filly during her time with trainer Chris Waller, who also oversaw Winx’s remarkable career, outlined that the decision had been made on the advice of vets and Waller.
“Although disappointing, it’s in her best interest to now begin her career as a broodmare,” the statement read.

It was not mentioned which stallion Quinceanera would visit in her inaugural breeding season later this year.
Quinceanera’s retirement was announced on the two-year anniversary of her sale at Inglis’s Easter offering, where Debbie Kepitis outbid American John Stewart to retain her.
Kepitis was one of three part-owners in Winx, who won 37 of 43 starts – the last 33 in a row, including 25 Group 1s – and almost $26.5m in stakes.
Quinceanera is one of only two live foals from Winx, who in 2024 foaled a colt by Snitzel who was to be sold at this year’s Inglis Easter Sale late last month but was withdrawn in the lead-up to the sale after suffering a setback in his preparation.
Winx was given a season off after having her Snitzel colt and last year paid a visit to Darley stallion Too Darn Hot.
