28/2/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sunshine Coast

7 Miss Dynamo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one for me. She ran at the Gold Coast last Saturday and she should have won, but was given a sore back by Sutherland, sitting wide no cover for a fair chunk of the race, just missing out on the win when a close up third. Senior rider on and she must have come through that run well to back up.

5 Captain Good Vibes (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran a narrow second in the race mentioned above. He got into a decent spot off the speed before angling clear and knuckled down strongly, just missing out on the win in a blanket finish. Maps ideally and strikes a winnable race.

1 Brief Spirit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting back up in trip for Team Munce after racing over 1800m here two weeks back where he was back from 2000m. He just found them a bit sharp but kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. Back up in distance, he’s an improver.

8 Maconda (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Kelly Schweida trained filly that resumed over this trip at Ipswich when off the speed and held up at times but that said, she did have her chance to finish a bit closer. This isn’t a deep race so she can bounce back.

1 Claw Machine (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Cosmic Force that resumes for Billy Healey. Market liked him late when he debuted over 800m at Warwick. He had a bee in his bonnet behind the gates and I think ran his before the gates opened. Given a good break and his trial win here was sharp. Keen to see how he goes.

7 Heavy Reign (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has run third in his two career outings and is one of the leading contenders. Latest run was at this track/distance two weeks back where she seemingly had her chance but that said, she stayed on and was quite game in defeat. Kind map and hard fit, she appeals.

8 Summer Soiree (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to Queensland for the Neasham/Archibald camp after doing her racing in NSW where she has been solid for the most part in some tidy races, the latest run seeing her finish fourth to Heesen. Think she’ll be hard to beat against these.

6 Pyrois (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Team McEvoy, he now finds himself with Lee Freedman. His latest run was Jan 16 at Seymour when near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind a nice horse, Heaving. I’d say watch the market.

7 Nightcapped (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a track/distance winner last time, getting front end control under Marshall and found under pressure to score in what was the the first run for Jack Bruce after formerly being with Nathan Doyle. Her confidence is up, she can win again.

7 Moonfleet (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have returned really well for Matty Hoysted and should appreciate a rise to 1400m. This mare resumed over 1200m here four weeks ago where she got back in the run and was held up at times but kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat behind Pink Cashmere. Fitter and up in trip, she takes beating.

9 Mist Of Dawn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will appreciate a rise back up in trip after going 1350m to 1200m at Doomben when off speed and chased from a fair way out but kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat behind Surprise Honey. Back up in trip, bigger track, she appeals.

3 Mr Caleb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver up in trip. He resumed behind Surprise Honey at Doomben where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did find the line well enough in defeat behind the Gollan filly. Better set up here, home track advantage, he can run an improved race at odds.

1 Irish Songs (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and I’ll bank on that class getting him home. He got a dream run on speed at Eagle Farm last time, ridden with intent, and duly saluted to wear down Devastate. He has a good track/distance record and he gets in very well after the claim.

2 Pocket Full (Bet Now:  $SP.00) does tend to save his best for the Sunny Coast and has a kind map in his corner. He ran behind Irish Songs at Eagle Farm last time where he had the dream sit in behind before angling clear and was there to threaten but just whacked to the line late. Back to where he races best, I am not penning him.

3 Under The Cap (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since contesting the Sunny Coast Cup at this track/distance when back in the run and failed to get involved when down the track behind Elettrica. Good record here and his best is good enough.

11 Pending (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He did more than enough fresh over 1400m here before going to the track/distance where he got too far back in the run but I liked the way he closed off in defeat. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he takes beating here I say.

4 Poutchek (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door. Latest run came over the mile at Doomben where she got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Gets in well after the claim and be strong late.

6 Chance With Wolves (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran over this track/distance two weeks back where she got a fair way back and did make up headway in a run that was a pass mark behind Express Payment. Dangerous at a price if she can settle closer.

7 Montgomery (Bet Now:  $SP.00) brings solid enough form from NSW and appeals. Latest run was just over two weeks ago over 2100m at Wyong when off speed and worked home well enough in defeat behind Nyota. Big track and 2200m looks ideal, and have to respect John Thompson when he travels.

3 Iberian Ruler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs for Neasham/Archibald, having not raced since Jan 25 over 2200m here when one paced and didn’t fire a shot in defeat behind stablemate Vaguer. Tick over trial at Deagon was quite good and prior efforts were sound.

11 Brynner (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a total forgive from two weeks back at Eagle Farm when wide throughout and that hard run just told on him late in the piece behind the very much in form Barazin. He does have talent and his prior form does read very well for a race like this.

1 King Yoshi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the one now, and clearly, after scratchings. Dominant first up win at this track/distance before going to the Gold Coast when outclassed, finishing down the track behind Action King. Back to this level, miles in grade/depth, he wins.

7 Curry Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 860m at Gatton when doing too much work on speed and first up, condition just gave way late in the piece. Gets in well after the claim, lands on speed and can run a much improved race.

8 Miss Gabbiano (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a short course specialist and is racing well. Latest run was at a Non TAB meet at Gayndah when running fourth. The run prior at Dalby was good…doubt he wins, but can run top four.

BEST BET: Race One Number 7 Miss Dynamo

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 1 King Yoshi

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 11 Pending
