One of the countries most talked about horses Alligator Blood could bypass the Spring Carnival.
Trainer David Vandyke is contemplating bypassing Melbourne’s Spring Carnival with his sights set solely on next years All Star Mile.
“I doubt you will see him in the spring (in Victoria) because we’ve got The Everest and The Golden Eagle on target,” Vandyke told Racing.com.
“He’s had a nice long break, I’m bringing him up slowly and he’ll only have handful of starts. So you might see him in the autumn and maybe even back for The All-Star Mile.
“It will be determined by what they do with the weight scale in Queensland. If they revert back to a 54kg minimum, I will give him a run on the 12th of September.
“But I don’t want him to carry more than 61kg, which is what he’d get. If they stay with a 55kg minimum and he’s got 62kg then I will probably go to Sydney and he can start down there.
“I would prefer to stay in Queensland and let him have as long as possible in the warmer weather.”
Alligator Blood was installed as one of the early favourites for the 2020 Cox Plate but has eased with the horse unlikely to be targeted at the race.
