Champion jockey Hugh Bowman has been taken to hospital.
Update 📝: Hugh Bowman to have surgery on hand
He was just finishing trackwork on Tuesday morning, and getting ready to ride a few at the Randwick trials, including glamour galloper Happy Clapper, when disaster struck.
He isn’t badly hurt, but his right hand has been injured in a nasty accident.
Those close to the champion rider aren’t releasing any details at the moment other than he has gone to hospital to have his injured hand x-rayed.
Happy Clapper, incidentally, with Tommy Berry in the irons, strode away to win his trial brilliantly.
Bowman has a good book of rides at Canterbury on Wednesday.
A decision will be made Wednesday morning on whether he fulfills his riding commitment there.
