Despite being somewhat unknown at the trip, Al Galayel is favourite to take out the Hobart Cup (2400m) this Sunday.
The Maher/Eustace trained galloper raced over 2000m at Caulfield last time where he looked to have his chance but grinded away well when beaten narrowly by Tarquin. The 2400m should be okay for him and this isn’t the deepest of Hobart Cups we’ve seen, hence why he is $3.20.
He holds the call over the local contender Eastender, who is at $3.90, out from $3.60, but has the runs on the board and will no doubt be popular with the locals. The other key chance is Lamborghini at $4, out from $3.60 despite winning impressively at Caulfield.
