Australian racing fans are consistently losing out on seeing their favourite colts take to the track as another top prospect has retirement plans.
Group 1 Galaxy winner Russian Revolution has had a stud plan mapped out since he burst onto the scene for Peter and Paul Snowden, but he might have only one more run before taking on stud duties.
The four-year-old’s career could come to an end in next month’s Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield and co-trainer Paul Snowden said the race could determine his future.
“To tell you the truth, it will probably determine his future,” Snowden told RSN 927’s Racing Pulse. “If he came out and won the Oakleigh Plate he might be retired straight away.
“That’s something that the guys have sort of said so we’ll just wait and see.
“He may stay and punch on down there (Melbourne) but I suppose it depends on his performance.”
Russian Revolution, which is owned by Newgate Farm and the China Horse Club, returned to order with a 900m trial win at Randwick on Monday, but bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au is still offering $8 for the quality colt.
