A monster ten race card has been set down for Eagle Farm, with plenty of depth engaged once again. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out two metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (11:15) : Www.brc.com.au Handicap (75) 2200m:
Back Me: I keep getting sucked into 4 Annaman…(Bet Now: $2.70) and I will again. He is racing very well this time in, but just can’t quite crack it for a win. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back and chased hard throughout the straight but just couldn’t finish it off and had to settle for third to the in form San Telmo. Not as much depth here, and if he is going to win, this is it.
Big Danger: 2 Denoninator (Bet Now: $3.10) ran fourth behind San Telmo in the same race and his effort in defeat was pretty solid given he was off the bit a fair way from home. Been up a long time, but continues to put in honest runs and expect nothing less. He can win here for sure.
Roughie: 1 Emerald City (Bet Now: $4.60) ran over 1800m at the Sunny Coast a tick under three weeks ago and stuck to the task very gamely when a close up second to Colour Charge. He has won up to 2400m so distance increase suits, he has upside and stable is starting to fire now after a shaky start. Hard to beat.
Race Two (11:50) : Hamilton Hotel Handicap 1500m:
Back Me: 2 Rhyming (Bet Now: $4.60) is a handy filly that has won her past two in impressive, both of which have come at the Sunny Coast where she has sat back in the run and finished with purpose. Debut run behind subsequent city winner Cushion Pink was very good too, so she ticks plenty of boxes and stable is going really well.
Big Danger: 8 Shuda Known Better (Bet Now: $7.00) ran over 1400m here a fortnight back where he was kept safe in the market at around the $9 and he lapped up the bog track, sprinting hard late to get the job done impressively by a space. He should only improve off that and arguably meets a weaker field here. Hard to beat.
Roughie: 9 Balboa Rocks (Bet Now: $19.00) ran in a 1400m Sunny Coast maiden on Sunday where he sat near the speed and stuck to the task quite gamely when running a close up second to Mola Ram. That form probably wouldn’t normally be good enough for a Saturday event, but this race is thin.
Race Three (12:22) : Natural Pest Control Handicap (80) 1400m:
Back Me: 10 Monsieur Gustave (Bet Now: $1.60) has won two from two this time in, and on both occasions he has been smashed in betting, like he was over the 1350m at Doomben three weeks back when leading and bolting up. He has a stack of upside I suspect and really, you’d be a brave man to tip against him, because I just think he picks himself.
Big Danger: 7 Shipwrecked (Bet Now: $14.00) ran over this track/distance on August 13 where he had three wide cover throughout and despite that cushy run, he couldn’t finish it off and had to settle for sixth to Total Authority on a day where it was hard to make significant ground, so perhaps he can be forgiven because his two wins prior were impressive.
Roughie: 8 Bushy (Bet Now: $15.00) ran over this track/distance a fortnight ago and chased hard throughout to run a game second to in form galloper Monster Of Energy, beaten just over a length. Seems to have a liking for the track and though I doubt he can win, he is a must for exotics.
Race Four (12:57) : Aqwa Construction Open Handicap (0MW) 1000m:
Back Me: Don’t be surprised to see 1 Hot Hit (Bet Now: $12.00) bolt up here. He has been nominated several times since his last start second at Randwick in June behind Three Sheets when beaten just over a length in a race where the form has really held up. Tipping that Mark Mason has been looking for the right race and I think he has here. Looks the one.
Big Danger: 7 Hammoon Boy (Bet Now: $19.00) comes here for Sue Grills with really good form behind him in the NSW country in some handy sprint races. His last effort came at Moree when he just missed in picking up Prince Mayted, who has performed well in town both in Brisbane and Sydney. That’s really good form for a race like this.
Roughie: 3 Bush Caviar (Bet Now: $15.00) ran over 1200m here a fortnight back where he sat on speed and fought on very gamely when running a close up fourth to the well performed Ziggy Willie. Clearly not as much depth here and a repeat performance similar to that will see him be right in the finish.
Race Five (13:32) : BRC Spring Racing Carnival Handicap 1830m:
Back Me: Leaning towards 8 Deconstructed (Bet Now: $4.40) in what looks a really competitive race. He ran over the mile at Doomben three weeks ago and chased throughout to run second to Bentles, but was taking ground off late. Gives the impression he is looking further, which is what he gets here, plus I think the bigger surroundings will be to his liking.
Big Danger: 5 La Spiaggia (Bet Now: $4.40) ran over 2000m at Doomben three weeks back where he was smashed in betting and aided by a lovely steer from Jim Byrne, the five year old got the job done to win narrowly but impressively. Back in trip is no issue and the two runs prior, both here, were full of merit with excuses.
Roughie: 1 Best Case (Bet Now: $11.00) was a strong winner over this track/distance three back before stepping up in trip at his next two and while he hasn’t won, he has been quite competitive. Back to the 1800m is perfect, he’s hard fit, in form and he strikes a very winnable race.
Race Six (14:07) : Veuve Society Handicap 1400m:
Back Me: 8 Sea Red (Bet Now: $10.00) ran behind Mr Epic five weeks back and really, she had no hope given the on speed bias that afternoon, but under the circumstances, her run was one of the best of the afternoon. If the track plays fair and every horse gets their chance, I think she is the winner.
Big Danger: 7 Punta Norte (Bet Now: $6.00) ran over 1350m at Doomben three weeks back where he had the charmed run near the speed and fought on pretty well when third to Jopa, beaten 1.4L. He always does travel well but sometimes he doesn’t finish off. He can win this for sure if things fall into place.
Roughie: 2 Transporter (Bet Now: $21.00) is such an interesting runner. First up in over two years, the former Patinack galloper, who is now with Serene Lodge under the care of Glen Thompson. He had some really good form back then, but obviously the gap between runs, nine years old…many unknowns, but I’d watch the market.
Race Seven (14:47) : BRC Christmas Carnival Plate (Class 6) 1600m:
Back Me: 14 Bound For Love (Bet Now: $2.00) ran over the track/distance four weeks back and the mare just absolutely loved her winning, spanking her rivals by nearly four lengths and increasing the margin with every stride. She is in a great frame of mind at the moment and she can continue on for sure.
Big Danger: 9 Silento (Bet Now: $11.00) was an impressive winner at Doomben two back over subsequent Saturday winner Bentles before going to the Sunny Coast where I thought he was a tad disappointing, but perhaps the rain affected track wasn’t his go. Big improver if he brings his best.
Roughie: 4 Fusina (Bet Now: $16.00) ran few of weeks back over the Sunny Coast mile where he sat off speed and chased hard throughout but the slow tempo was perhaps against him when running fifth to proven city performer Yoho. With a more genuine tempo here, which is likely, he could improve sharply.
Race Eight (15:27) : Trackside Openair Cinema Handicap (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: 2 Consorting (Bet Now: $16.00) is a former Mick Kent runner that had his first run for Brian Smith here a fortnight back and closed off really strongly late behind an above average type in Shamfrancisco. Should only improve off that and rates highly.
Big Danger: 3 Pienkna (Bet Now: $6.00) ran over 1200m at Doomben three weeks ago and was given a lovely steer from Jim Byrne to get the job done narrowly over Pepperano, who goes around as a leading chance in the next. Draws well here again and ticks plenty of boxes.
Roughie: 13 Friendly Dragon (Bet Now: $10.00) resumed at Eagle Farm and made up eye catching ground late to run fourth to Hidden Dragon, who went to Randwick last weekend and was far from disgraced. Was due to run last week at Doomben, but he has a horror record there, so Eagle Farm suits.
Race Nine (16:07) : Chairmans Club Handicap (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: 4 Man Of His Word (Bet Now: $3.90) is an absolute tease and a nightmare to follow, but he is working towards a win…I think. Ran over 1350m at Doomben three weeks ago and closed off hard late, as he always does, to run fourth to Monsieur Gustave. Back to 1200m suits and with a likely genuine tempo, he’ll be a threat.
Big Danger: 3 Most Important (Bet Now: $5.00) just about meets his D-Day here. He has always promised to be a good class horse but he has been quite disappointing this time in, not winning a race despite being favourite on a couple of occasions. But he strikes a very winnable race here.
Roughie: 13 Eliminator (Bet Now: $51.00) resumed on his home track at the Gold Coast four weeks back and wasn’t far off Nakanai, beaten just over a length, and that horse has won again since to frank the form. Draws gate one here and has a really good second up record.
Race Ten (16:47) : For Sale 126 Mein Street Hendra Plate (Class 3) 1500m:
Back Me: 2 Brazen Moss (Bet Now: $2.30) looks the way to go here. He has been given a five week freshen up since running a game second here at this track/distance behind the in form Mr Epic. Break between runs is no issue given he usually runs well on the fresh, and this isn’t a strong race.
Big Danger: 15 Unassuming (Bet Now: $5.50) ran over the mile at Doomben last Wednesday and savaged the line from near last to run a narrow second to Extrasay. He’ll love the spacious surroundings Eagle Farm has to offer, down in the weights, with upside…leading chance.
Roughie: 11 Beckoning Light (Bet Now: $9.00) also ran at Doomben last Wednesday, running fifth to Hit The Road Jack in a 1350m race. The win prior was dominant, actually beating Extrasay, who won the race mentioned above. Easy to tie in, so in that regard, she’s a threat.
BEST BET: Race Five Number 8 Deconstructed
NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 10 Monsieur Gustave
VALUE: Race Six Number 8 Sea Red
