Sandown will host a rare Saturday meeting this weekend which includes The Australian Steeplechase and The Australian Hurdle which look to be great editions of the races.
Weather is unlikely to be kind with showers and rain reported over the next day in lead up to the meeting and being at Sandown it’s likely we will be racing on a heavy track.

Race One: Samson Hcp 1200m Form Guide
Back Me: Lady Lakshmi won well on a heavy track last start at Sandown and is likely to get similar conditions here. She meets a harder field but should improve and handles a soft track which the others might not.
Don’t Back Me: Samarmeteors looks to be a relatively smart type but i have to pot one horse in the race which is tough being a 2yo race on a wet track, i think the favourite here is a risk.
Big Danger: I’m Ready For This won very well on debut and being out of More Than Ready should relish the heavy track on Saturday and looks a big danger.
Roughie: Moment Of Design won by 5 lengths in a trial on a heavy track so she will handle the conditions and looks a danger at double figure odds.

Race Two: Jim Conway Hcp 1200m Form Guide
Back Me: Legcut hasn’t won for awhile but she finds a much easier race here and has wet track form. Currently at double figure odds and looks a good each way bet.
Don’t Back Me: Hai Lil has had one start on a heavy and was unplaced she will have to carry 60kg on Saturday which is a massive task at Sandown on a wet track.
Big Danger: Bloomingdale Miss gets a 3kg claim in the race which puts her into the weights well and on recent form looks the horse to beat in the race and has been well backed.
Roughie: Sheza Single Girl will drop 7.5kg from her last start run when only just being beaten, with the weight drop she should be right in this at big odds.

Race Three: The Australian Stpl 3900m Form Guide
Back Me: Bashboy has had six starts over the jumps for five wins and a second which is hard to look past and he should make it another win on Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Man Of Class is very competitive over the hurdles although he is suited over further distance compared to the other runners in the race.
Big Danger: Lord Of The Song relishes the soft tracks and has a very good jumps record and looks the biggest danger to the odds on favourite.
Roughie: Half Moon Rising is an experienced jumper who is always around the mark, enjoys the wet track and if others make mistakes he could capitalise.

Race Four: The Australian Hrdl 3400m Form Guide
Back Me: Macedonian made his jumps debut last start and couldn’t have been more impressive. He is the best horse on the flat in the race and if he can jump well again will be very hard to beat.
Don’t Back Me: Maythehorsebemagic is a good jumper although i think he is the fourth best horse in the race and with no other runners in the market i have to have him as the horse not to back.
Big Danger: Brungle Cry looks the obvious danger, has more experience over the jumps compared to our on top selection which could be crucial on Saturday.
Roughie: Gotta Take Care ran a massive race in the Andrew Ramsden Stakes and if he can take that flat form into this jumps race he will be in the finish.

Race Five: Australia’s Best Pie Comp. Hcp 1600m Form Guide
Back Me: Medvedev did a lot wrong last start and should have gone much closer in that race. Will be able to sit mid field from barrier one and if he can get some luck heading into the straight he is weighted well enough to win this.
Don’t Back Me: Essay Raider has been disappointing in his last few runs when getting back and running on just okay. Im not sure his running style will suit the conditions and track on Saturday thus i think he is a risk.
Big Danger: Scapolo will have to overcome a wide barrier but this may not be an issue on the wet track by race five. Has good wet form and should sit handy in the run and be hard to run down.
Roughie: Gold Medals was disappointing last start but the start before that was a very good run in a good form race at Flemington. Gets a 2kg claim here and looks a big chance at odds.

Race Six: Le Pine Funerals Plate 2100m Form Guide
Back Me: The Big Steel has good wet track form and drops in weight substantially and will only carry 52kg in the race. Currently at double figure odds and looks a good bet.
Don’t Back Me: Lake Sententia won really well last start when posted wide although is yet to perform on a wet track which is a big concern if your taking the short odds.
Big Danger: Secessio is coming out of a good form race last start and gets well weighted here. Has won on a heavy track and looks right in this race.
Roughie: Budai has been out of form but loves a wet track which he will get on Saturday and could run a big race at good odds.

Back Me: Club Command is coming out of a good form race last start with Speediness franking that form since. Lightly race galloper who likes a wet track and gets very well weighted with the claim in this race.
Don’t Back Me: Amaethon is dropping in class although goes up 5.5kg in weight and on a likely heavy track which he is yet to place on from two starts i think he is a risk at the odds.
Big Danger: Bello has been super impressive this preparation and has won some very good form races on heavy tracks and is the horse to beat.
Roughie: Shadowfax races well first up and handles a rain affected track and im expecting him to go close in this race at double figure odds.

Back Me: Girls On Film gets 3kg claim on the minimum weight of 51kg which will prove very handy in this field. She is stepping up through the ranks but has shown enough to say she can win this against some average runners.
Don’t Back Me: Streets Of Seattle never fires first up and isn’t a wet tracker thus id be leaving him out here.
Big Danger: Rock Princess has won four times on a heavy track from five starts and by the last race at Sandown this could be a massive advantage.
Roughie: Rememba Howe has a very good second up record and has shown to handle a wet track. Could run a big race here.
