Nash Rawiller dominated the Sydney autumn carnival but on Wednesday the premier jockey was warned to take a look at his riding style after being fined a total of $700.
Rawiller was fined $400 for raising his arm above shoulder height when using the whip aboard More Joyous in Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes victory, the jockey’s seventh Group One success of the carnival.
He was then hit with another $300 fine for the same infringement aboard Flying Zero after that horse was narrowly beaten in a race at Canterbury on Wednesday.
“It’s something that you are going to have to address with your technique,” acting chief steward Greg Rudolph said.
“It should have been ringing through your ears going into race five (on Flying Zero) having spoken to you already over the Queen Elizabeth.
“Raising your arm above shoulder height is against the rules and we’re going to have to continue issuing penalties to act as a deterrent.
“We can’t have you as a leading rider winning races and being in breach of the rules on a technical matter.”
Rawiller continued his outstanding recent form with a winning double at Canterbury aboard Sherocksmyworld and Mossamine.
