Chris Symons has done his chances of getting more rides for Chris Waller no harm, maintaining a perfect record for the trainer with victory on Fulgur at Flemington.
On a day when Waller prepared the quinella of Beaten Up and Foreteller in the Group One Doomben Cup in Brisbane, import Fulgur did his bit for the stable in Melbourne with a one-length victory on a seven day back-up in the Henry Bolte Handicap (1700m).
“That’s three from three for Chris Waller and I,” Symons said.
Symons’ other wins for Sydney’s premier trainer who opened a satellite stable in Melbourne earlier this year, have both been on Multilateral in midweek races at Sandown.
Fulgur was dropping in distance after his second to Midsummer Sun over 2000m last week and Symons was able to weave him through the field from near last before the import sprinted well to defeat Oak Heart with Gail third.
“I thought it was a terrific effort. He’s a lovely horse,” Symons said.
