A Group One win has so far eluded Snitzerland but trainer Gerald Ryan knows it is only a matter of time.

The filly gets her next chance in Saturday’s Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville after pleasing Ryan since her second to Bel Sprinter in the Galaxy three weeks ago.

Snitzerland’s record also boasts a Group One second to Pierro in last year’s Golden Slipper along with five stakes wins including the Group Two Challenge Stakes last month.

“She will leave on Monday,” Ryan said.

“She’s done very well. She had a couple of hit-outs during the week, one on Tuesday morning on the (Rosehill) course proper and one on Thursday working the reverse way and she went very well.

“She is going good but Group Ones are hard to win no matter where they are and she’s got two float trips to contend with as well.”

The filly will spend a few days in Melbourne and head to Adelaide on Thursday.

Depending on how she travels and how she races, Snitzerland could stay in Adelaide for South Australia’s biggest sprint, the Goodwood on May 11.

Ryan will also have a Group One runner in Sydney on Saturday with two-year-old Charlie Boy to be given the opportunity to turn his form around in the Champagne Stakes (1600m).

The trainer admits Charlie Boy has him baffled. The colt ran third in the Silver Slipper on a heavy track and came in for support in the Golden Slipper when the ground was wet.

He finished midfield and again ran with the pack in the Sires’ Produce Stakes won by Guelph.

“He’s a good worker and a great eater but I can’t understand why he isn’t doing it in his races,” Ryan said.

“Maybe he didn’t back up from the Slipper so we will give him another chance in the Champagne.”
