Epsom Handicap-bound Said Com has started his spring build up on the right note with an eye-catching barrier trial win at Rosehill.
The Group One placegetter was making his first public appearance since the Sydney autumn carnival and was given a massive spring endorsement from jockey Hugh Bowman after winning a 900m heat.
“He trialled super and felt great,” Bowman said after Said Com’s half-neck win over stablemate The Shooter.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding is being aimed towards the Group One Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick in October.
The rising four-year-old highlighted his Randwick mile credentials with a close second to star filly Mosheen in the Group One Randwick Guineas in March.
Said Com settled in behind the speed on the fence but once clear, he reeled in his rivals under his own steam in a pleasing return.
The trial session also featured a win for multiple Group One winner Sniper’s Bullet in the opening heat over 1030m.
A rising nine-year-old, Sniper’s Bullet has netted more than $2.6 million in stakes in his 55 starts and is building up for his eighth season of racing.
