Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker is set for a four-race Group One weight-for-age autumn campaign with trainer Greg Eurell ultimately aiming her at the $2.25 million BMW at Rosehill on April 7.
The four-year-old Reset mare was last week nominated for the $2 million Group One Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 21.
“There are a couple of options. We’ll just see how she’s coming up and take it from there,” Eurell said.
“But at this stage we’re aiming her at The BMW after she runs in the Futurity, the Chipping Norton and the Ranvet.
“If she didn’t go to the Ranvet, we’ve got the Queen Of The Turf and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
“It depends on what weight she gets in the Doncaster too I suppose. But I think they’ll be a bit cruel to her in that.”
Pinker Pinker faces her first clash with the world’s highest rated sprinter Black Caviar when she resumes in the Futurity (1400m) at Caulfield on February 25.
Eurell said the mare had had a five-week spell since her upset win over Jimmy Choux and Rekindled Interest in Australasia’s weight-for-age championship over 2040m at Moonee Valley in October.
“She had a great break. She spelled really well. She went out on a good note and enjoyed her time off,” he said.
“She was really relaxed and put on a bit of weight.
“She came back to the stable in early December and she’s been ticking over since then.”
“We’re just starting to push things along with her now and with five weeks to go if everything continues according to plan we’ll be pretty much on target for the Futurity.”
Pinker Pinker has been placed just once in three first-up outings but Eurell hasn’t ruled out his mare giving Black Caviar some stiff opposition.
“It’s a starting point for us and if she happens to run second to her you wouldn’t be disappointed,” Eurell said.
“But I think it would make for a very interesting competition.
“If our mare is on her game and going as well as we know she can, it’ll certainly be an exciting race.”
Pinker Pinker, who has won six races from 16 starts and earned more than $2.5 million prize money, is unbeaten in three second-up starts including the Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield and the Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington – both at Group Two level over 1400m.
She’ll go second up into the Chipping Norton (1600m) at Warwick Farm on March 10 followed by the Ranvet (2000m) at Rosehill on March 24 with the 2400m The BMW two weeks later.
At her only start at 2400 metres, Pinker Pinker finished third behind Absolutely and Shamrocker in the AJC Australian Oaks.
