The Vinery Stud Stakes clash between star fillies Mosheen and Streama is shaping as a tantalising sidebar to Saturday’s $3.5 million Golden Slipper.
Australian and Randwick Guineas winner Mosheen is a firm favourite for the Group One 2000 metre race at $1.55 with TAB Sportsbet.
Streama, who wasn’t disgraced against the older mares when a last start fifth in the Coolmore Classic, is at $2.40.
Such has been the dominance of the pair, the next filly in Friday’s market on Friday was She Goes To Rio at $23.
Trainer Kerry Parker will saddle up $41 chance Aliyana Tilde in the Vinery but he isn’t approaching the event as a race for third place.
The filly was a closing third behind Vinery rivals Appearance and She Goes To Rio in the Listed Keith Nolan Classic (1600m) last start and Parker can’t wait to see what she can do over Saturday’s trip.
“The 2000 metres is right for her and hopefully the others have an off day and she has some luck,” Parker said.
“I’m not saying she can beat those two (Mosheen and Streama). Mosheen speaks for herself, but my filly won’t disgrace herself.
“They will know she’s in the race. She will run a cracker.”
Aliyana Tilde is on a path towards the Group One Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on April 21.
Saturday’s Rosehill assignment will be the seventh run of her campaign which started in January.
Parker said the daughter of versatile sire Snitzel – who will be represented over the 1200 metres of the Golden Slipper by Amorino and Snitzerland – was a pleasure to train.
“She’s had plenty of racing but she’s a sweetheart to deal with,” Parker said.
“She had three weeks off going into the Keith Nolan and she was probably looking for further than a mile then.
“The two week break going into Saturday and then the two weeks into the Oaks will be ideal.
“The aim has always been the Oaks but 2000 metres is right up her alley.
“I’m looking forward to Saturday.”
Parker can also take heart from last year’s Vinery when $51 chance Mirjulisa Lass upset a class field including Brazilian Pulse and Pinker Pinker.
Blake Shinn partnered Aliyana Tilde in the Keith Nolan and again has the ride.
Eight fillies will line up including two maidens, Plumm and Pedrinate.
