Trainer Mick Kent has had one charge overturned on appeal and penalties varied on four others in relation to shock wave therapy on horses.
Kent was fined $7000 on five charges but that penalty has been varied to $4000 after appeals to the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Wednesday.
He was fined $2000 after being found guilty of racing Cheddington at Moonee Valley in December 2010 within seven days of the horse having shock wave therapy.
Kent was successful in that appeal and the horse will retain its second placing in the race.
His appeal against a charge under the same rule in relation to Caribbea being given shock wave therapy within seven days of racing at Moonee Valley on December 10, 2010 was dismissed but his $2000 fine was varied to $1750.
The trainer’s appeal against the severity of three $1000 fines in relation to three horses barrier trialling within seven days of having shock wave therapy in 2011 resulted in a reduction to $750 for each offence.
