A team of horses previously trained by the disqualified Luke McCarthy and set to compete at Menangle Park this weekend will still run.
Harness Racing NSW has granted approval for McCarthy’s father, John, to be caretaker trainer of the 10 pacers engaged for Saturday night’s meeting.
The horses have been transferred to McCarthy senior at a separate training facility until the HRNSW board meet on Monday to consider the matter further.
Luke McCarthy, Sydney’s leading harness racing trainer, was banned for nine months on Tuesday after Mach Wiper tested positive to an anabolic steroid following his Newcastle Cup win in December.
