Black Caviar’s little brother All Too Hard looks to be owner Nathan Tinkler’s only hope of having a Golden Slipper runner this year.
Patinack Farm racing manager Robyn Hartney confirmed on Thursday that filly Hussousa was out of the $3.5 million race due to soreness.
“She’s sore and she will go to the paddock,” Hartney said.
“It’s very disappointing but that’s racing, as they say.”
Hussousa is prepared by Patinack’s head trainer John Thompson and won the Gimcrack Stakes in the spring.
She finished in the placings at all three starts this campaign, including a second to Slipper favourite Samaready in the Reisling Stakes at Rosehill last Saturday.
Tinkler also owns All Too Hard who is under the care of the Hawkes training partnership.
The youngster has been ultra-impressive winning his two starts in Melbourne and will make his Sydney debut in Saturday’s Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill.
However, Team Hawkes is refusing to commit to a Slipper start, preferring to see how All Too Hard performs on Saturday and how he comes through the run before deciding if he will back up in the juvenile showpiece on Saturday week.
All Too Hard is equal second favourite for the Slipper at $6 along with Pierro while Samaready is the $2.50 TAB Sportsbet favourite.
