Plans for Hay List to gallop at Moonee Valley on Monday in preparation for the William Reid Stakes have been delayed 24 hours to allow Glyn Schofield to partner the sprinter.

Schofield, who is serving a suspension, took the opportunity to travel to Dubai during his down time ahead of an invitation to ride for trainer Herman Brown at the World Cup meeting at the end of the month.

McNair said Schofield would not be back in time so the workout would now take place on Tuesday.

A last-start winner of the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington, Hay List is familiar with Moonee Valley, the scene of Friday night’s Group One William Reid Stakes.

The three-time Group One winner is unbeaten in two appearances at the track winning the Group Three McEwen Stakes (1000m) and the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) in September 2010.

Hay List is the winner of 15 of his 22 starts and has earned almost $2.5 million prizemoney.

He has had the misfortune to race in the same era as the world’s highest rated sprinter Black Caviar and has finished second to the mare four times in Group One events.

Schofield has won two Group Ones on Hay List, missing the winning All-Aged Stakes ride last autumn when injured in a raceday fall and replaced by Glen Boss.

Hay List will obviously be the horse to beat under the weight-for-age conditions of the William Reid (1200m) having shouldered 58.5kg to a half-head Newmarket victory over Buffering who carried 4kg less.

They will both carry 59kg under the lights at the Valley.

The Rob Heathcote-trained pair, Buffering and Oakleigh Plate winner Woorim who ran fifth in the Newmarket, are set to be at the Valley on Monday ahead of the Reid.

Buffering is already a winner at the Valley having won the McEwen Stakes in a tight finish from the ill-fated Crystal Lily and Atomic Force before finishing fourth to Sepoy in the Manikato, both last September.

Woorim has had experience of the course having raced there three times for a 1200m win last September when he carried 60.5kg to beat Blackie.

Trainer John O’Shea has Newmarket third placegetter Foxwedge down to have a look at the track with the colt a newcomer to the unusual Valley circuit.

Last-start Group Two Kewney Stakes winner Empress Rock from the Bart Cummings stable is also down to gallop ahead of the Group Two Sportingbet Fillies Classic (1600m) on Friday night.
