Adelaide trainer Richard Jolly had plenty of reasons to scratch Draw Forward from her engagement at Moonee Valley but had his faith in the filly rewarded when she won the TattsBet.com Handicap.
A last start first up winner at Morphettville, the daughter of Charge Forward was having only her fifth start in Saturday’s 1200m event and was impressive, sweeping to the lead wide out rounding the home turn and fighting off The Fairy’s Kiss in a photo finish.

“She’s always shown good ability but there were a few queries on her today,” Jolly said.
“I had faith in her but being her first time at 1200 metres, a soft track, and an outside barrier probably put a doubt in my mind.
“She sat wide and that might have been the best going and she did the job well.
“She cruised up to them and she’d had enough on the line but I think there is further improvement in her.”
Draw Forward ($17) was top jockey Steven Arnold’s only ride at the meeting.
Jolly hasn’t made specific plans for the filly but is likely to return with her to Melbourne before Christmas.
